the first “skill” you would get wouldn’t be an actual combat skill, it would be the profiency to use a certain weapon. that weapon would have 3 skills yes, but it wouldn’t make sense for them to be all unlocked at once, it would still need levels or exp with that weapon, i assume.
Also this doesn’t disprove my point that pvp will still be running away and waiting for move cooldowns at the lower level, it’s apparent that m1s are essential to working pvp and that rn it looks sloppy and, just doesn’t work
No it’s not, to use the first weapon skill for any poor quality weapon you literally need 10 points invested into the weapon stat
Poor quality weapons will only have 2 skills, average quality 3 and good quality 5(cause ults)
There’s no system like that at all, there might at the very least be a need to upgrade a weapon to a certain level before you can use the second or third skill but as of now there’s nothing like that on the trello
You would literally have 3 weapons that you can use, and even then cd aren’t that long, have you seen either one of the weapon skills combat videos? Sure the first one is less polished but the second one really demonstrates how weapon combat would be at even level 90.
Vetex himself has gone out to say that m1s aren’t important for weapons other than for extremely low level npcs so you don’t have to use magic blasts to advance levels.
And if you’re also referring to magic combat? On release mages will have access to all skills, 4 of which are damaging moves(blast explosion, beam and a dash impact) as well as lost spells. So I’m not even sure what you’re arguing about
Also answering this, vetex has said that m1s aren’t going to be super viable but they might be useful after warriors get weapon aura. m1s aren’t an essential for wom or AO, you’re only referring to ground stun based combo games like deepwoken that focus on it. m1s have never been essential to either aa or woms PvP, weapons were only ever used for their abilities and vetex made weapons viable based on the aerial, 3D combat that his games have always had.
Like clash said, warriors can have 3 weapon skills at as low as level 10 (one for each weapon)
On your point about the viability of m1s and m2s, I don’t really see an effective way to make them a core part of combat without making drastic changes to AO’s combat style which is fast-paced, dynamic combat as opposed to the combat of games like Deepwoken/GPO which centre more around ground combat, combos and attack chaining, etc. . AO just isn’t intended to have that style of combat.
I guess you have a point about the slash animations looking sloppy (weapons themselves are of no particular interest to me so it’s not something I really noticed), I’m not sure whether this is a stylistic choice or if it’s due to majority of the weapons we have rn being of a lower quality, or slash animations not being vet’s strong point. Either way it’s mostly up to one’s personal preference about what they’d like the animations to look like, I wouldn’t say they detract from weapons as a whole since like we’ve said m1s aren’t a focal point of weapons in general
Level 5 actually level 5x2 stat points per level= 10
Oh yeah
I wanna see how he responds, this is gonna be fun
Quick question, have you seen any of the sneaks or are you speculating alot of this?
ill get the popcorn
I assume he’s judging based off of the limited sneaks of m1s that we’ve seen and little to no trello information about how the systems work
got some popcorn, start passin it around
alr you got me, low levels do have a good amount of moves available to them. but that doesn’t change the fact that combat is skill spammy and based on purely aim, and dodging, i still think m1s should be improved cause rn they look horrible
wind combat was horrible bruh you can’t compare it to that shit, literally you’d just spam jumps into the air and wait for someone to blast first so you can punish
anyone need popcorn still?
That’s the beauty of vetexs combat style, he’s made games exclusively with this combat style and the only people who’ve complained are people who play ground based grab combo stun games. Vetex sees more benefits and skill involved in aerial 3d combat than with ground based m1 combat
I agree with this though, the weapon m1s could be improved
That was WoM combat, multiple testers have said AO does it better than WoM
Butter or no butter?
can i get some
agree, but at least utilize some of the actual weapon usage instead of it j being moves, imagine using a stick and using the same moves, the weapon isn’t unique at all in its m1s or m2s and i think it would make the game more fluid if some kind of melee use without a “skill” would be added
