It’s sorted the literal trash suggestions from the suggestions with some semblance of quality. The people who were active on the forums during the WoM area can attest to the true slop suggestions that were posted frequently there.
Vast majority of suggestions now are formatted and at least thought about before posted. Are there low quality suggestions? Sometimes. I see more suggestions from people being more… unsure about future mechanics? Like… suggesting a feature that is already planned.
If Suggestor requests weren’t looked at and accepted/declined, I would give this more consideration. However, from what I can tell, @Divanochi has been accepting requests (fantastic work by the way!)
Suggestor isn’t too hard to obtain. If there’s major problems with people suggesting duplicate suggestions when applying, I can ease the requirements. @Divanochi is welcome to request so if he deems it necessary.

Personally, my main concern with removing the vetting process isn’t solely the fact that there’ll more commonly be low-quality suggestions; it’s that whenever there’s a low quality suggestion, people are often just ridicule the suggestor them til the suggestion closes or a mod closes it, and situations like that are things I’d like to avoid.
It’s true that there are still occasional low-quality suggestions these days, but most of them don’t really compare to some of the ones that get filtered out by Suggestor requests.
Exchanging Suggestor for TL3 might seem good on paper, but in my opinion that’s too much of a commitment to the forum. Currently it’s TL2 + Submit a request, with reaching TL2 taking less than 2 weeks of activity and a response for your request (usually) being under a week. TL3 on the other hand takes almost 2 months at a minimum to achieve, which can be quite steep. And even if the requirement were being TL3, that doesn’t guarantee that the Suggestor would have enough familiarity with the suggestions category (rules, what not to suggest, declined suggestions, etc) to warrant the role. 2 weeks of activity + proof of your ability to submit high quality suggestions is preferable to me.
But regarding the actual response times of Suggestor requests, these can unfortunately be longer than necessary due to my limited availability at times. This leads to unfortunate cases where requests can end up getting lost in my inbox and go extended periods without a response, but I typically try going through requests 1-2 times a week to give the role to the better submissions among them (with my criteria being the three ratings in the suggestions category of Effort, Quality, and Reasonability). If a person’s submission is lacking in the 3 ratings, my intention is typically to point out what can be done better in the suggestion or let them know why their submission wasn’t accepted so they can re-submit again at a later date. Overall I still need to smooth out my process a bit more, but I don’t think it’s a broken system currently
