Blinking open two tired eyes the dragon awoke, water lapping around him. Yawning he got up splashing, and stretched, much like a cat. Before going any further, the sea dragon pried off a remora and set it back into the water to swim back out to sea. Annoying little buggers, always trying to help. The cave was still pretty dark but light was filtering among the sea-glass from the entrance.
The sea dragon took a second to admire the light bouncing off the glass and shining the walls, but was interrupted by a wyvern’s screech closer to the entrance. Sighing, the sea dragon closed his eyes and took in a deep breath before heading towards the entrance. The rocks clicked against his claws with each footfall. He didn’t bother to look at the iron doors, he had nothing to add anyways.
He passed some of the stone sculptures positioned around the room, warriors frozen in battle and people screaming as they were petrified. They served their purpose to keep random adventures away, but basilisks charge a steep price for their artwork as they call it.
The dragon turned a corner, spotting the two wyverns nestled next to each other on a higher rock cleft near the cave entrance. Light danced around them as the sea glass reflected it. The female wyvern woke up and was startled to see a dragon watching them, a predator who could snap their throats with ease. The male awoke at his mate’s hissing but took one glance at the sea dragon before nuzzling his mate to go back to bed. The sea dragon chuckled as he left, the two wyverns wouldn’t bother his stuff and were a fun little experiment finally going into fruition.
Stepping out onto the beach, the dragon watched the water stream into the cave from the ocean. He took a look back into the cave, he probably wouldn’t return for a while, but oh well. He turned around, watching the sun rise for a moment as seagulls cawed from above. He laid down in the wet sand, feeling it stick to his scales but knowing it would wash off fairly easily. He opened his jaws, a soft breeze passing over his tongue. The seagulls were hesitant at first but eventually they came down and began picking between his teeth and gums for any stray scraps.
When the dragon felt satisfied he let out a low growl startling the seagulls out of his mouth. He then snapped it shut and dunked himself into the sea. He surfaced not 30 meters from shore beating his powerful wings to gain lift. He quickly turned back around and flew over the coast before heading inland with the sun behind him so no one could see where he had come from.
It was a new dawn, and about time Shell revisited some old friends.
I’m back, and plan on staying around or at least checking in every day. Me leaving during may will probably become a regular thing.
