:eye:REVAMP THE INSANITY EFFECT:eye:

:fast_down_button:Make insanity effect event less likely to occur when not in combat and happen normally when in combat so that player can still enjoy the visual, graphic, sound, … when just they just want to wandering around looting; and low tier like I1 nearly wont have anything when not in combat

:st3:Make the insanity effect that lessen in the visual aspect and more affect in the gameplay one, adding many more insanity; Add many more insanity event not just affect the visual but the gameplay overall like :

Likely to be Insanity :one:+ effect:

  • change the idle animation : sweating, fidgeting, twitching (i think this already happened but more i guess)
  • vommiting just like eating while u full, lose 5, 10, 15,… hunger more depend on the Insanity tier
-make the character appear dizzy like when using sailor, this will affect the aim of your cursor too not just the cammera, also random shaking cursor
  • tripping, ragdoll because its funni

Likely to be Insanity :two:+ effect:

  • enter a exhausted state and have some indicator ( like this emoji :wavy_dash::wavy_dash: but red and vertical) flash when when stamina regen is reduced; delayed input (atk speed will be the same ) but before or after the state granted buff to all stat or stamina regen
  • enter a state where all your stat is reduced; indicator ::fast_down_button:flash on the player but granted resistance and def
  • enter a drawback state with :broken_heart:indicator flash; all of your attack will have a slight drawback and more damage recived but granted dmg buff
  • enter a confusion state with :white_question_mark: indicator switching skill keybind with each other but granted skill cooldown

Likely to be Insanity :three:+ effect:

  • have some of the effect in darksea when still in the war sea but less effective like water poisoning
  • very rarely randomlly using tool they dont want to like potion; or using the wrong tool, drink wrong potion

more HALLUCINATING ::shaking_face:

  • improve the ghost already in the game, make it follow you, if your dont stare at it enough it will jump at you and scare you (yes jumpscare) trigger rarely and at high tier only
  • add random NPC wierd behaviour and NPC that not real, like a ghost disappear when look but it still have normal outfit just slightly off like their arm is broken or swapped, no head, moonwalking
  • seeing not real weather event for short period
  • the agora randomly have the wrong thing reported and then normal again if the player check it again
  • see animals randomly then disapear like shark on land, rabbit under the sea

**BUFF TO INSAINITY:**:eyes:

  • At high tier like 3+ will recive a big random stat boost with indicator
  • Enter a state buffing all stat but loosing hp overtime happend only in combat and only stop when you kill something or out of combat
  • The player will be insane and thought they mutated into atlatean and recive skill like bite grab,…
  • Deal status effect like water poisoning, paralyzed red lightning,… (could be when fully charged)
  • … more idea later

:plus:All of those above effect scale with insanity tier like the vommiting

:open_book:We have the guidebook contain all tutorial so add another page for insanity effect so player can write down what have they expierience in the dark sea and add some quest, title for discover all the effect

:axe: :magma_magic:The purpose of this suggestion is to make insanity fun to use, realistic, completely change the gameplay making the player have to change their behaviour when see a indicator, making high level insanity still playable but really hard to do so not just a free stat exchange for random colour blind when im watching the sunset

will edit more if i have more idea or comment ur and ill add it

first time making suggestion hope yall helping

Yap, I like you as a friend but, I’m trying to understand the thought behind it.

Though yes, it is a good suggestion, I think having to implement all of that into one mechanic is a little time consuming. Maybe a compromise of reworking one insanity effect from each level is a better idea instead of having multiple more animations and code as the amount of work just for just the insanity effect is too much.

No. Just no. Insanity is already fine enough as is - it serves as a visual obstruction that you can either utilize for a stat bonus (atlantean essence) or deal with for the great rewards of deeper dark sea regions.

Hunger is being replaced with energy, so this doesn’t make too much sense.

This could kill off Atlantean Essence in buildmaking depending on how it is implemented. Unless there are very specific conditions to how it works, it could become a random disruption incombat that can get you killed. Imagine you’re losing a 1v1 to someone using insanity, but they trip nd get ragdolled for 2-3 seconds, allowing you to hit them with an ultimate art and gain the upper hand. That isn’t very fair to them - you didn’t win through skill, you won through luck.

So… on TOP of the visual effects of I2 that steer players away from using it (and incentivize warding), you want them to potentially have their stats directly REDUCED, endlag increased, drawback added, or HD1 Illuminate keybind-swapped. This sounds horrible to play with and likely cannot be added in a way that would go over well with any portion of the playerbase.

That makes zero sense. Why would water poisoning affect you in the WAR SEAS? It’s from the DARK SEA’s rain. It also wouldn’t matter if you were in the Dark Sea, where most people experience insanity.

That just sounds like inconvenience for the sake of inconvenience. There’s no point towards this on top of skill keybinds already being mishmashed.

We already have hallucinations - it’s called Insanity. The suggested ones seem unnecessary when we already have the insanity illusions in game, which serve their purpose much better than these.

You already get a stat boost from insanity. Making it random also makes it a very unreliable buff - if you’re a speed build, accuracy may not benefit you (or perhaps even harm you).

You’re not mutated to the level of an Atlantean, you don’t get their UNIQUE skills.

As previously mentioned, water poisoning is an effect from the Dark Sea. Paralyzed comes from the synergy between Lightning and Soaked (from the rain). Also, Ancient Lightning is a lost magic we’ll get, not something that matters for mutation.

Races are not coming to AO. Choosing something at the beginning of your playthrough without knowledge of how it’ll impact your gameplay is bad. A title for spending time in the Dark Sea COULD be cool, but it’s not related to any achievement.

Insanity, when placed on gear, is meant to provide a stat bonus in exchange for dealing with visual obfuscations that, while not affected gameplay, require skill to deal with. This suggestion would detract from that - Insanity is not meant to be fun to use. Might I remind you that it also comes from being in deeper reaches of the Dark Sea as a hazard?

If it’s meant to be realistic, then it does well currently. Insanity is an affliction of magic onto the mind, it wouldn’t force water poisoning onto you or magically harm you when you cast a spell.

Putting something on your gear shouldn’t completely change how you play. Especially not when Insanity is widely used for PvP - this would kill that.

If you haven’t tried playing high insanity, please go ahead and do so. It is difficult due to the amount of effects you deal with, however the stat bonuses make up for it. It’s also why people use warding in the Dark Sea - it gets really hard to deal with.

Never cook again. Insanity is fine as it is (Atlantean Essence could use a small nerf) and this suggestion would only harm the game.
Also, self rating is bad or whatever.

yeah ik its just a suggestion that i randomly have but yeah insanity is not a main part of the game tho, just hoping it envolve less in visual and lil more on gameplaywise and yeah ion want visual effect when just wandering looting doing chart
and yeah this is my first post, ik its axx im tryna learn :3

The effort and time put in to make it look good is alright but…
…really?
forced bad aim?
random nerfs to all of your stats, forced drawback, randomized keybinds?
randomly using your items???
this is almost as bad as those people who wanted injuries to happen outside of story…

there will never be different races for the player to play as.
this was asked in the QNA the other day, vetex said no.

to further lay on the fact that these are horrible ideas, its already a pain in the ass to fight atlanteans in ins 2+, and you want to make it damn near impossible with these changes.

Holy that a rlly specific and careful reply i honestly thank you for point out the mistake

i forgor, just lose energy then ig

yeah this one is bad there nothing i can defend

mmhm but we can give them buff in those duration too so its a trade, like in drawback status u deal more damage, the stat reduce give u a bunch more resistance,…

yeah this is shiet too

just some more idea for ghost, animal and random npc

yeah those are kinda the idea i want to say, insanity make you thought u mutated into a Atlantean and got those skill like bite

mmmm when sm1 insane there chance they hurting themself without knowing, like for drawback it is when ur not sane enough to cast a spell probably and make it backfire to you a lil bit; water poisoning is goofy yeh

if adding more buff to those state above as i just said it a trade and ppl have to adapt their playstyle like blocking and going defend mode when stat reduced, attack less and aim more in drawback state,…

the stat bonuses is not worth it thoo..

oh i thought the effort rate is for the effort it need to implement that mbmb

Yeah this is my first suggetion ever, ik it bad and have too much mistake and ofc it wont never ever make it to the main game just a idea in my mind i want to share

tho i still wanting to make insanity viable for pve and overall like just wandering around looting without the visual effect and have some gameplay effect to replace that

again thank you for your reply i really appreciate your comment about it and ill learn from that

and yeah buff for those duration too like more dmg when in drawback, more resistance in stat reduce,… so its a trade

yeah this is straight up shiet

mmhm my idea is the player go insane and thought they mutated into Atlantean and got their skill like bite

ty for reply ill learn from that

Thats not a trade i would ever want to take part in.
Might i remind you players can very easily slap you with Insanity 3 whenever they want, due to how common black shards are?
This makes it so you have to carry around Warding potions of tier 4 and 5 AT ALL TIMES
and might i remind you, NARWHAL HORNS ARE INCREDIBLY PAINFUL TO GET.
and before anyone says “you can just use warding 3, those arent hard to get!”
no, no you cant, because you’ll still experience the effects of insanity unless your warding level is 1 above your insanity level.
matching level of warding only reduces the frequency.
TLDR;
My verdict on this suggestion?

You didn’t cook, you burned down the house.

In real life? Sure, completely understandable. Extreme mental illness may include self harm. However, spells can only harm their user if they heavily intend it to - even those under insanity and those MUTATED have no such intent, it is the nature of life to want to survive. To defy that is not even something that insanity should do.

The stat bonuses from insanity are certainly worth it. There’s a reason why many PvPers utilize some level of insanity - it’s GOOD. It is worth both the visual obstructions (which one can get used to) and the grind for the atlantean essence itself.

Lower tiers are, though you do have to get used to it. Higher tiers aren’t meant to be. Most PvErs won’t need the stats from insanity, making it a more pvp-focused (or minmaxxer, but why would you minmax a pve build?) thing you can do to gear.

mm i want to reduce the annoying visual effect and add more for gameplaywise but add more buff to it so its kinda a trade not just pure bad visual like rn and like what u said if u got I3 from other player having annoying aim but some buff is still better than pure visual effect that compeletely blind you

yeah ik this is my first suggestion ik it is bad and never ever got it ass into the game but yeah just a suggestion making this feature more rewarding to use and let ppl enjoy the game when out of combat

understandable compeletely agreed

i mean from I3+ its just straight up blindness and unplayable without W4, i want to make it viable for all the time, even pve

that my point, making insanity not just trading visual obscure for minmaxxing stat but for a playstyle change compeletely revamp it

Accidentally drinks interchange potion

this sounds cool but it works better outside of insanity, maybe something like.. uh… idk maybe something different than insanity, but buffing you randomly because you use insanity is naaaah

I want to take a moment to point out how extremely bad this is.
The thing you’re basically forced to add to your build to stay on par with the current meta actively makes the game worse for the person using it.

Right? With the full release we should just get new tier 2 modifiers for every stat, like I’m so done with this bs.

This is honestly why I think the atlantean modifier should be reworked to not involve insanity.

Insanity as a permanent modifier is bad because insanity actively makes the game less enjoyable.

Its cool in a place like the dark sea where it basically serves as a blocker to keep people from bringing in top tier builds unless they’re fine being blind.

I get what vetex was going for but this wasn’t the right way to handle it.

The best solution is to get rid of insanity but reduce the stat gains, so that you aren’t getting to much of the stat without drawback but still a good amount of the stat, for example, 42 size and 1 insanity —> 35 size only, or 14 power and 1 insanity ----> 10 power
