Change the quest to give the old amount of experience. Additionally make the quest non-repeatable.
Reason to add/change
500 XP is nothing for the effort required. While the old quest was a problem the new quest isn’t worth doing.
Revert the "The Dueling Mage" XP and make the quest non-repeatable

honestly do anything to the quest but make it not a waste of time
youre literally better off farming ice smugglers at frostmill than doing the dueling mage quest
