This is all thanks to me misremembering how the system works.
So basically as it is right now, the other person needs to hold a button on the dying person to revive them.
But what if instead of that you had to carry the person back to whatever ship belonging to the party and the game would revive them there?
I feel this would serve to, for better or worse , make way more memorable moments
The animations for this also already exist and are used in the “escape Ravenna” story sequence
The player who is being carried could have the speed they fade out at lowered by half or stopped altogether.
Or we could have both systems be in place for 2 different situations:
if they just died to a single enemy, which they almost also killed, you could just kill the enemy with one or two attacks and revive them on the spot
if they died to a group of enemies then you could quickly dash in there, grab your buddy and run for the hills
I think the system will work well enough for the purpose it’ll serve.
If it were to be fully incorporated into the game, I could see a carrying/executing system being a thing, but as implemented, it’s simply meant to just serve as a way to save someone in the Dark Sea.
even if this specific system doesn’t get added imo they should still give us the option to carry someone, some places are just not the best to revive someone.
I feel like there’ll probably a lot of situations where 60 seconds isn’t enough time for you to get back to your ship while carrying them, which would basically spell out inescapable death whenever you’re on an island away from your ship.
I guess you could have the countdown stop while you’re carrying the downed player but I feel like that could be slightly abusable
