Roblox is going to eventually (too lazy to find the actual date, but it has begun in New-Zealand and Australia I believe) start restricting the people you may chat with based on the platform, based on AI age estimation— the only other way to go around this is to pass your information to Roblox through the form off ID verification. This is based on age group categories which have some matching Potential. You may read this for full nuance.
Personally: There isn’t a lot that can be done from the side of players aside from not being players any more (or at least until reverted). even if you withhold from buying, it’d still generate logistics for Roblox to potentially use.
As for developers, most of them likely rely on the Platform for finnance— it’s unreasonable to expect them (or entice them) to stop using Roblox for the time-being. I do not believe the AO playerbase is anything close enough to make a dent; but if you could get other players to contribute to some sort of halt because of the Chat changes, that would help (especially if you can do it whilst supporting Developers on the side through patreon and other means).

No this system won’t let you speak at all unless you verify your age by giving an AI your face (or an AI generated video of a face). So it’s not only severely damaging for devs but also a major invasion of privacy, which is actually something they could technically get lawsuited for which will be hilarious to inevitably see if they go through with it.
I’m sure collecting the pictures or videos of the faces of millions of children will look excellent when presented in the court of law. Especially with all the diddler controversies and claims of the CEO and other executives being ones themselves.
Yeah this update is good for no one but Roblox. It’s a cheap band-aid “fix” to make Roblox seem like it has the users best interests in mind, when they’re really just gathering data about users and potentially placing minors at MORE risk. This doesn’t stop any ill-intentioned person from praying on kids, but now, anyone who may have been able to help or report (which doesn’t work anyways lets be real), won’t even know what’s going. It’s a mess.
Even then, everyone can see that this is just a cover-up from Roblox. Doesn’t even help them much tbh.
Look at the bright side of things! By using ai generated videos, predators can now narrow down their options according to their preference, and they will also be protected from mature people finding out! Just as david intended!
worse, there is nothing that people can do to change that, ima just be honest, its a lost case, roblox only did it to stop the lawsuits and prob swipe their pedo problem under a rug, and that all, they wont take it off bc they dont wanna fix their problems that cause them lawsuits, simple as that, only saving hope is if age verification for kids becomes illegal or is already illegal and they actuall get sued over that, which i doubt
Keep in mind a children’s doll got past the verification. (they’ll still be banned later but wild how it was even able to go through)

Ever since Roblox became a public company it has ruined every single element of freedom or fun for the playerbase. The implementation of the A.I. resembles the company’s policy, lazy, corner-cutting negligible, lawsuit-taking corpos that care nothing for the player base. Even the implementation of facial verification is done to make money while calming the investors. As a person who lives in a country that is affected by lazy politicians that know nothing about how the internet works this hits particularly hard. Keep in mind the verification relegates it to specific age groups, a lot of cool people I’ve met over the years would have fit into these different age groups causing a loss of contact. Keep in mind that an ACTUAL PREDATOR could just get a sibling or a generated version of a kid to then be put straight into a place with the most vulnerable people who are easier to manipulate without the lookout of more potential mature players.
I feel bad for all the devs that still are trying their best to make quality games on this POS platform. Games like Block Tales, Combat Initiation, and (obviously) Arcane Odyssey deserve so much better than this.
