She Pil on my G until I rammed
Thief king
300 health, 20%damage resistance, 2 defense.
“This vile king is villainous.”
He is likely the first boss you’ll encounter. Thief king uses block-breaking, unparryable, and normal moves, and should serve as an introduction to pilgrammed boss combat.
Moveset:
Sword Slash: Thief King’s most basic close quarters ability is his sword slashes. He will slash his greatsword two or three times (usually three) when in range of the player, each hit with 20 base damage.
Parry twice or thrice. After his swings are done, you have a window for a heavy attack.
Charge: Thief King will start running in place and then charge at the player, launching them into the air when making contact. After reaching half health, he will instead dash three times in succession. You can parry them but it is good practice to roll out of the way in order to avoid if you’re starting out as it can block break. Thief King also takes decreased damage during this attack.
Parry when he is about your sword’s distance away from you, or roll sideways.
Cyclone Slash: Thief King will rapidly spin in a circle with his sword, dealing great damage to players caught inside, each hit rapidly doing 6 base damage repeated 10 times. This attack can be parried and it’s recommended to spam the parry button to stay close or dive away from it. Thief King receives decreased damage if hit during this attack, similar to Charge.
Thief king is slower during this move. If you really want to parry, you can.
Shockwave: Thief King will jump high up, before quickly doing a smash on the ground creating a shockwave extending forward.
This is what you’ll most likely die to starting out. Dodge sideways as you cannot parry this.
Vuvuzela: When having half of his health depleted, Thief King will blow on his vuvuzela, summoning three Thieves to his aid. The Thieves he summons can have Mondoattributes or even Giant, so they should be focused on first before attacking the king. Thief King himself also gains a very minor permanent defense boost after this.
Not much you can do about this. It is recommended to climb on the pillars in the cave to hit the thieves first.
Drops:
- Thief King Cloak
(100.0% first time, 10.0% after) - Thief Pendant (33.3%)
- Vuvuzela (20.0%)
Thief king cloak is a good special. Using it will put you in a iframe ram that scales off strength.
Thief pendant is…. Ehhhh. It’s good early game but loses value later on. If you can constantly parry, you likely won’t need this.
Vuvuzela is a great summoner item/utility item/meatshield generator, even deep into the late game. I advise beating thief king until it’s dropped
Although…. You can use this with rally aced and bolster aced so you can summon a lot of mini thieves.
Viperhead
500 health, 35 damage resistance, 6 defense
“A viridian viper with a venomous bite, locked away in the bowels of the temple…..”
Double Bite: Viperhead will swing its head and attempt to bite the player two times in succession (25 damage each). Both bites can inflict Bleeding 1 when hit, so bringing a Bandaid from Lorgan’s shop in the Desert Outpost may be useful. This can be parried, block or dodged. Although….. you don’t really need a band-aid if you’re good at parrying. Parry when its head is about 30 degrees away from you.
Tail Whip: Viperhead will whip its body around to attack the player with its large tail, dealing 37.5 damage and pushing the player away. This attack has an obvious startup, and thus can be fairly easily parried or dodged, but can also block break when timed incorrectly.
Viperhead’s least threatening attack. Just roll or parry. When rolling, roll backwards.
Snake Strike: Viperhead will raise its head, then flash a red glint and charge forward at the player (31.25 damage and knocks the player onto the ground). This attack can only be dodged.
If viperhead knocks you, you’ll eat a hit or two. Dodge sideways.
(Just dodge sideways… please.)
Venom Spray: Viperhead will stand up to spray venom around itself. If the player gets hit , they will take 12.5 damage and be inflicted with the Venom 1 Status. This can hit multiple times. This can only be dodged.
While this MIGHT seem threatening, the hitboxes are janky and will likely not hit you. When it does this move, go in and do a heavy attack.
Burrow: Viperhead will burrow into the ground, then travel around under there until it shows a red glint before bursting out (50 damage and flips the player into the air), while under ground it’s immune to damage and it’ll pick up a piece of scrap. Sometimes the duration of it being underground can be longer. This can only be dodged. This usually leads into Scrap Throw.
- Scrap Throw: If Viperhead has scrap on his back, he can throw it (37.5 damage, inflicts Bleeding 1 and knocks the player onto the ground) at the player. This can be parried or dodged, but block breaks. There are 2 scrap variations (a needle and a buzz saw), but they do the same damage and inflict the same debuff (basically the same).
Drops:
- Serpent Scepter (100.0%)
This is hot garbage. Throw it away to Joe/ skrillex and move on.
- Viper Fang (33.3%) *
The only drop that’s mildly worth it. This can be crafted into items later on, or used for the (serpent style technique)[Serpent Style | Pilgrammed Wiki | Fandom]
