to add on to that, I didn’t expect for the suggestion to not undergo balancing changes
Why does a whirlpool need to be what replaces the diving spot for the dunegon, new players will prob assume its just a whirlpool or smth and not jump into it, new players are prob not gonna assume the whirlpool is treasure
I meant so say the whirlpool would look different
also it would keep the glow of the OG diving spot
I’m all for new interesting things to explore, but I don’t think this is particularly interesting. It seems like a diving spot except instead of 1 structure, it is 6, and you don’t need to dive.
just make a good suggestion
Stop plumetting notes for absolutely no reason.
what’s wrong with replayability
What’s wrong with replayability? Nothing. Having more things to do in the game isn’t a bad thing at all, and I think it is good to make these options available as early as possible without overwhelming the new player. My problem was not with replayability, it is with your suggestion. What does this suggestion do to add replayability? Very little.
Functionally, it’s just 6 random structures grafted onto a central structure, so it is as replayable as having 6 diving spots in close proximity to each other, except with a different theme and you don’t need waterbreathing. Instead of this suggestion, new diving spot structures could be added and it’d be more replayable, because they’d be more spread out in both distance and occurrence, while adding to the existing diving spot mechanic. There could even be rarer diving spots with better loot/more dangerous hazards.
If you’re talking about how I rated it, here’s my reasoning: If someone thinks their suggestion is so bad that they feel the need to preemptively cry about people calling it bad, I’ll take their word for it and rate accordingly, unless after reading the suggestion I think they’re wrong and it’s a good suggestion.
I don’t like this suggestion, yet I didn’t rate according to that. I gave 3 stars for effort, since it was decently well thought out, 3 stars for quality, since I consider 1 star to be bottom of the barrel, and this is so far from that, but it still needs a lot of polishing, and 3 stars for reasonability, cause I’m not sure that it’s in Vetex’s design philosophy for AO, but I still believe that, with the required polishing, it could fit within the game
it was supposed to be facetious
i found this interesting and fun, but i agree with the other comments, most max lvl players would come in seconds and steal it from others. no offense, i too am max lvl and have a decent brig, but i can understand some low lvl players want to experience it too and are instead met with an already looted / finished dungeon
no reason not to have ingame, we desparately need more content rn, would also provide a way for people who don’t practice brewing to find perfect potions
the game could use more replayability but this doesn’t feel like the right way to do it imo, I like having some kind of early game structure aside from diving points that players can get useful items and such from but I think that’s what enemy towers are supposed to be (which are a objectively more interesting take on the idea)
also I don’t get the underwater/not underwater thing, feels like there’d be no reason anymore to go to diving points or underwater structures if you could just go in a whirlpool and get teleported to a area with free modified items instead
there’s also no risk factor in these cause you could just not go in the pool room and megaladons/poison jaws are pretty easy to kill, especially if you just don’t go in the water
Whirlpool as an entrance is odd, it should be the average diving spot but maybe with a different glow (maybe yellow? or a slightly brighter blue), and going in there you would see the entrance which leads you into the dungeon
It should have enemies too, although these would depend on the type of dungeon, maybe you’d have reanimated skeletons from the time when Acheron revived a people accidentally (like the PK), or magic elementals (because the place is so magically charged that it keeps water out)
Lastly, limit potions to everything but interchange.
yeah I thought of that but it would be too lore-y
