One thing I’ve noticed that AO lacks is it’s replayability features. Many could hold an argument against this, but many built-in replayability attempts are too late-game to get someone want to play more often.
A solution to this problem:
add a new replayability feature that is easier to access without grinding first.
My idea: sea dungeons
Occasionally at a diving spot, the area would be replaced by a whirlpool that, when the player sinks into it, will teleport them to an underground dungeon. This dungeon would be left over from before the Durza(or the new name I forgot) explosion thing happened, and the dungeons sunk into the ground. The magic exposure keeps water from entering the dungeon, so explorers don’t have to brew a lot of water breathing potions. The dungeon will have a central, lobby-ish area that is surrounded by 6 rooms. These rooms are pulled from a list of random rooms with various things to explore.
Rooms:
Treasure room - a brick room filled with shelves of different types of chests, sealed chests, and gunpowder barrels. (these cannot be the highest tier of loot because it’s so free)
Trap room - a room filled with tripwires and pits filled with different kinds of traps that will deal signifigant damage to the explorer. These rooms have a chest, sealed chest, or gunpowder barrel of the highest tier possible.
Ecosystem room: a room filled with a random type of biome, each giving midified chests of their biome type. (for example, a room filled with sand would give blasted)
Alchemy room - a wizard-looking room with a cauldron and random collectable potions, reagents, and catylists scattered on the floor
Kitchen - a room with a cooking pot and collectable food items.
Pool room - an overgrown roon with a giant pool that has a poison jaws or megalodon inside and a highest-tier chest, sealed chest, or gunpowder barrel on the bottom.
How to get loot out of the dungeon:
when a player leaves the dungeon, the whole dungeon will start collapsing, teleporting the player and all of the gunpowder barrels and sealed chests to the surface. The player will then be able to unload their loot onto their ships.
Q&A:
tHiS lOoT iS ToO oP:
these events will be broadcasted serverwide and will not happen often. Also, only 1 player can enter the dungeon at a time, so the loot isn’t distributed.
