Sealed Chest tiers
Right now, sealed chests are seen as more of a hinderance, especially to late-game players. The loot from them is rather static, and not much rare things to look forward to when opening one, which further discourages people from taking them. This suggestion aims to make sealed chests actually worth a player’s time to collect and take to a shipwright to open instead of just being practically useless.
First tier: Supply chest
This is the first type of chest, and the equivalent of a common among sealed chests. It would look like a big wooden box more than a chest, with a lock on it.
It’s potential drops:
- Cannon balls (Can have a small chance of being uncommon or rare)
- Tiny bit of Drachma (50-150)
- Common/uncommon reagents
- Common blueprints
- Lower-tier armor
- Basic weapons
- Occasionally notebooks
- Things tailored to a shipwright (Sails, hammers, etc…)
- Supplies for your ship
- Maybe pirate diaries occasionally? (Lore opportunity?)
Second tier: Modest chest
This is a chest that has some valuables in it, but it wasn’t completely filled or didn’t have anything extremely good in it. This would be frequently found on smaller ships with inexperienced captains, or lower tier treasure charts. They’d be rarer than the supply chest, but not by a whole lot.
It’s potential drops:
- Gems (Mostly rare ones)
- Small amount of drachma (500-750)
- Uncommon blueprints
- Armor (Low-mid tier)
- Weapons (Low-mid tier)
- Treasure charts (Common-rare)
- Sails (Higher rarity)
- Reagents (Common-Rare)
- Potentially more diaries
Third tier: Treasure chest
These are actually decent chests that contain some good stuff in them, and perhaps the rare find of some great things. They would be found occasionally on some ships, with a higher likelihood if it has an experienced captain, or in some treasure charts of varying tiers.
It’s potential drops:
- Gems (Rare-Exotic)
- A good amount of Drachma (1500-2500)
- Uncommon-Rare blueprints
- Armor (Rare, occasionally exotic)
- Weapons (Uncommon-Rare)
- Relics (Varying tiers)
- Treasure charts (Uncommon-Legendary)
- Reagents (Rare-Exotic)
- Rare (And rarely lost) Spell/Technique scrolls
- Enchantment Scrolls
- Ok screw it, diaries!!! (Probably from known captains this time)
Fourth tier: Grand Chest
This isn’t an ordinary treasure chest. This is a collection of extremely valuable belongings, possibly even from another era, from possibly well-known (or unknown) figures in AO. This kind of chest can EXTREMELY rarely be found on ships with experienced captains, more likely to spawn on boss ships, and on Exotic+ treasure spots. Alternatively, this chest type could be found within deeper reaches of the dark sea as a dark sealed chest type.
Potential drops:
- Gems (Exotic, possibly Legendary if added)
- A lot of Drachma (10,000-20,000)
- Rare-Exotic blueprints (if those tiers are added)
- High-tier armor
- Upper-tier weapons
- High quality relics
- Treasure charts (Exotic-Mythical, very rarely lost if charting level 10)
- Reagents (Rare-Legendary)
- Potentially an opportunity for treasure-exclusive drops (Lmk in replies)
- Enchantment Scrolls
- Rare and potentially Lost Spell/Technique scrolls
- You guessed it, some diaries/exclusive journals.
Fifth tier: Master chest
Unlike other chests, this chest would be a special kind of chest, you don’t just take this one to a shipwright in peace. Because of the value of this chest, you will be a high-priority target for pirates, no matter your alignment. My idea for this one is if you try to sell this to a shipwright, they will say it has a pretty complex lock due to how old and big the chest is, and they’d need time to crack it. You also can only carry this chest if you carry it (No carrying 2 when carrying a Master Chest.) I’ll explain more on this after the drops.
The master chest will potentially drop:
- Gems (Exotic, very high likelihood of legendary gems if added)
- A massive amount of drachma (50,000-75,000)
- Exotic or legendary blueprints (This will only be if they’re added)
- High-tier armor
- High-tier weapons
- Very high quality relics
- Treasure charts (Mythical-Lost, with a 50/50 between them if level 10 charting)
- Legendary Reagents
- Lost Spell/Technique scrolls
- Exotic Enchantment scrolls
- Exclusive items (This can include items that normally require a ridiculous drop rate from fishing or smth like that)
- (Edit): Almost forgot, MORE DIARIES! (Possibly even ancient ones…?)
All loot mentioned is not guaranteed and is selected from a loot pool.
Now, I mentioned there’s something special that happens when you try to unlock a master chest, right? Well, not only is the chest huge, some pirates have been tracking master chests for a while, and will quickly pounce at the opportunity to take your loot. Basically, you needa kill the pirates that head to steal your treasure, who will show up via ships. It would work similarly to mythic chart pirates, except it’s directly to the final spot. Yeah the rest is pretty self-explanatory.
Any of this need changes or nerfs? Lmk in the replies.
