All magic users in Magius have a tremendous capacity for violence. They are predators, to the marrow in their bones. Without dark wizards, the magic council has no reason to protect the magic-less from the council’s own predation. In the absence of apparent evil, violence against the villainous magicians will be replaced by violence against the vulnerable and oppressed. I can tell you that all those towers, people, and property damage is paid in the peoples’ blood. Moreover, those who cannot pay the taxes and lose their livelihoods through Council recklessness become bandits, who are then preyed upon by the MC, who use this oppression as a pretext to ruin more lives, perpetuating a cycle of misery and grief among the common folk.
The Magic Council is sustained by the very misery it purports to protect the people of Magius against. We must ask how genuine such a claim can be. How can an institution of death cast itself as a defender of life under such terms?
Someday there will be a revolution which will turn towers into monuments, prisons into homes, and gallows into tables around which a family gathers to eat. We the undersigned do not wish the Council to be a part of that table."
