One of my last big suggestion sharing threads was a meme one, about bad suggestions, but this one should be a bit more interesting.
Share a change you genuinely want to the game, something you actually want to see implemented, but you know in the back of your mind that it would be incredibly unpopular to share. Takes a bit of bravery to paint a target on your back, so let’s try to be cordial to one another’s ideas, even if you don’t agree.
How would that even work though? Tiny little zap attacks that? Also how could m1 combat be reworked overall? It makes sense for bother weapon users and fighting style users. They are just… punching/kicking/stabbing.
A completely reworked stat system built on the idea of compromise. Basically, you distribute stats based on how you want to fight, and your armor would have a reduced impact on your stats.
The stats would be as follows:
Vitality Stats
Endurance. Increases max HP and max Stamina.
Spirit. Increases your max Energy, along with the damage you deal with spirit weapons.
Magic Stats
Wisdom. Allows the player to learn more techniques and spells.
Casting. Increases overall power and AOE of magic and to a lesser extent weapon skills/FS techniques.
Strength Stats
Athletics. Grants faster movement, a higher high jump, quicker climbing, and slightly farther dodging.
Brawn. Increases fighting style damage. Can also grant slight damage resistance when using skills.
Weapons Stats
Poise. Increases effectiveness of blocking, allows blocks to prevent stats effects.
Proficiency. Increases damage dealt by weapons. Also makes swapping items faster.
The return of Threats, and forcing the navy attacks on notorious criminals to only happen if you’re responsible for causing one. You could cause one by either destroying heavy amounts of property or by using a new “give me all you own!” dialogue option while talking to a store NPC, provided your bounty is at least above 15k
-Doing this would spawn a few decently high-level navy/heroes, and only when you defeat them would the Threat start for real
-Normal stores would close, allowing criminals to loot a specific amount of random items fitting the store in question (accessories from tailors, armor and weapons from armorers and blacksmiths, ingredients from alchemists) but denying regular players the ability to use them
-The Shipwright would be the only exception, but would only offer repairs and redocks.
-A notification would play in the server informing players of the Threat and where it is taking place, as well as who’s responsible
-The Threat ends once players taking part in it are all dead or after a period of 5 minutes without any criminals being in the area
-In the case of Palo town, executions would be delayed as long as the town is under Threat but the navy would respond MUCH more violently, with stronger NPCs ands ships that arrive faster
-If a threat lasts for a long time, maybe spawn a commodore miniboss who’ll either end it themselves with violence, or drop more loot for the criminals taking part in it but ending the threat state (With different journal headlines for either outcome: “Navy Flies To Rescue Of [town]/[Town] Pillaged by [Player who initiated Threat]”)
-There would be a long freaking cooldown on Threats happening in a specific town, it should be an event, not a constant nuisance.
-A threat starting would lower Navy Influence, but would raise it back if it ends due to the criminals dying. If it ends thanks to the defeat of a miniboss, it would lower influence by a tremendous amount.
-Blackrock Grotto could have its own version for Navy players possibly? Instead of being a Threat it’d be called a Raid or something
I sure as hell don’t think players would like for people to just randomly have the ability to stop them from going about their business, and threats were probably one of the most jank bits of WoM that i don’t see anyone missing. But i still think there’s a way to make them cool, damnit.
hitstun on weapons and even more on fighting styles
don’t know how it’d be put into the game
hitstun would’ve made WoM unplayable, but now a mage being able to do good damage up close while facetanking the classes meant for it is pretty bad
this can tie in with this, too. tinier blast spells that fizzle out at short-medium range (like, 10-15 studs?) and have no hitstun so that it’s clear you shouldn’t be relying on them
make positive quests optional for sea explorer (why does a person that’s massacred the grand navy have to rescue castaways)
at least if this isn’t the case in the bronze sea, in nimbus sea add a lot more negative/positive side quests that are optional
