Proposal
Exactly as it says on the tin. While you are standing aboard a ship that belongs to you or a person in your party or guild, a small UI should appear on the left side of the screen- roughly below where the party list would be. This UI displays all the information you would see while at a ship station.
Details/background on your proposal
The information displayed while standing on a ship is the ship’s name, its durability bar, and its current magic storage. Since deckhand professions will also be shown while you’re at the wheel, that may also be something that can be added to this small UI.
As an extra note, perhaps adding a place where all of the items currently on your ship (things like cargo or sealed chests) are counted and shown on the UI could be nice? That might be a bit much though.
When you enter a ship station such as manning a weapon or taking the helm, the UI information can simply be dragged from its position on the side of the screen to its normal position in the center. When leaving the station, it moves back to its position on the left- and disembarking the ship can cause the information to be dragged offscreen entirely.
Edit for suggested addition
This is a good idea, making the UI toggleable would mean that the people who don’t want or need it won’t have to see it. Making it toggleable via a button directly on the UI would be even better.
Reason to add/change
This is largely a quality of life change. Being able to see ship status at a glance without needing to get into a station is very useful when it comes to repairing the ship with a repair hammer for example- since it’s hard to see the health above the ship while you’re standing aboard. Being able to see the items on your ship’s deck at a glance would also be a plus if that were to be added, and some information about the ship in general that doesn’t normally have any visible indicators could also be added to the UI to make this even more beneficial.
Not gonna make a poll this time, to see how that changes interactions with the post.
I’d have paired this suggestion up with a bunch of miscellaneous small suggestions as I have before, but I decided to not do that so I could expand on single ideas a bit more instead.
