Proposal

I would love to see some general improvements to update the quality of life towards the Shop UIs. I propose the following:

  1. Merchant NPC Improvements (QOL to Selling Items, Search Bar)
  2. Allow Max Tier Merchant Deckhands to give access to the Auction Marketplace.

TL;DR - Add a Search Bar to shops, Let choose the number of an item to sell, less clutter on some merchants

Merchant QOL Improvements

Improvements to Selling Items

One thing that doesn’t make sense to me is why there is a “Sell One” and “Sell All” button when we can select the amount of an item to sell. This feature has already been implemented for some items inside the trade menu with other players.

(Hell, even Marketplace has it already)

There are moments when I want to sell a few hundred of my items for quick galleons rather than sell all of them, and there is no way in hell any of us will sit there spamming the “Sell One” button. Selling All isn’t an option when the value of the items exceeds the galleons that the merchant has on hand.

Additionally, the Sell Menu could also be transformed completely into something similar to how the trade menu works, where you could choose the items you want to sell and press a button to sell them all at once.

Search Bar and a Category Sort

You aren’t a true Arcane Player unless you have a massive inventory that takes forever to load. The most tedious aspect of using the Blacksmith or selling an item has to be attempting to FIND the item. Players should not have to scroll for 5 minutes to find an item and try different types to find it.

The best solution is to add a search bar for the item names.

Blacksmiths
There could be a separate sort tab for Weapons and Armors. The only items that should be listed in the blacksmith shop should be the ones that can be upgraded. Alternatively, the upgrading of Armor could move to the Armorer and the Blacksmith could handle the disarming of weapons.

There should be no clutter on the list, we shouldn’t be seeing random items that can’t be upgraded. It makes it difficult to find the item we want to upgrade.

A good example of what I’d expect from the other shops is what was done with the Shipwright UI. (Though I think the other UIs might be old ones from WOM.)

A side feature suggestion would be for blacksmiths to be able to merge multiple “Old” weapons into a “regular” weapon, but I’m not too sure if that’s what Vetex wants for the game.

Merchant Deckhand

The Merchant Deckhand isn’t something that gets a notable change in upgrades other than the amount of items they can have in stock. Therefore, I believe that at the Master Tier, merchant deckhands should be able to allow access to the Auction House Marketplace once they reach the Master Tier of their profession. It would be convenient to buy and sell items right on your ship.
Of course, you can make it so they can’t access it inside of the Dark Sea.

Reserved Item Type Slots
As per the replies, the RNG of the Merchants seems to be a pain point, as their usefulness seems to be dependant on luck. Merchants could have designated slots that sell a certain category of item. For example, merchants could have a reserved slot for Reagents, in which a random reagent would appear.

Honestly yeah; searching for items is complete ass in game; and the markets were definitely the worst offender of this. Some of these are just simple UI ideals like only having modifiable things inside blacksmith menus. I also think thats its great to give the Merchant some love, its a pretty minor one that mostly exists for player QoL, the auction house is useful and its always annoying to have to travel to an island for it.

Honored to have your first post be a reply to my suggestion!

Definitely quite the pain for sure, though I find the alphabetical sort really helps find stuff quicker at the very least, or the rarity/item level sort in some cases

Let me request my merchant deckhand to specialize in a certain type of item so their usefulness isn’t 129% RNG.

Maybe they can have like 2 slots be weapons, 2 slots be gear and 2 be misc items

6 slots of reagents and catalysts.
This is the only way they’re useful to anyone lol.

Yes PLEASE

AO’s shop UI overall is not very good

Have there also be an option to ‘sell all but 1’ for if you want to keep a copy of something (such as golden shovels for example)

Anyways hell yeah

It’s @Dudeman 's job :rage: !

Fr idk why you can’t choose a specific amount of items to sell it’s literally so inconvienent :frowning:

It sucks when your item stack exceeds the shop balance so you either waste hours of your life mindlessly clicking “sell one” or you don’t get the entire galleons worth of items you sold

Oh how I WISH I could select the exact amount I want to sell to an NPC, I have far too many of one item and no NPC has enough to buy them all

You’re totally right, I’ll add that to my reasonings too haha

erm ackshually according to john arcane himself a searchbar doesn’t work with how the inventory is coded
