You’re currently being chased by an NPC that is too difficult to defeat, you hurry in fear as you are nearing death. The only way to run is by a bridge. You start crossing it, in hopes that you won’t be slashed to death. You near the middle of the bridge, when you start to hear what sounds like wood breaking. You run for another two seconds, and then jump to the end of the bridge! Planks are flying across the air, and you watch the NPC fall into the ocean. You catch your breath, only to die by a Suncry members
So, I’ve been thinking about a suggestion to implement bridges falling apart or flying across the air like in AA. I asked someone (who is great at making suggestions) if they could help me with the numbers since I couldn’t get them right, but they said that most people didn’t like bridges randomly breaking (you know who you are…). I honestly had to agree, they were really annoying in AA. But, the thing is, I still kind of want to make the suggestion. I have come here to ask what you guys think
Should bridge breaking be implemented? Please reply why you think why or why not.
Nope, I don’t want bridges spontaneously dismantling just from walking over them, I had enough of that in AA.
If you really want a bridge destroyed, blast it, and even then, those chasing you will just use high jumps, even the NPCs can use them now, and given how we’re promised improvement to their AI it’s easy to assume using high jumps to get to higher up places is one of those improvements.
I think it should only be a chance for certain areas. Like a bridge on a deserted island wouldn’t be cared for, but a bridge near a town would be, so yes and no.
Edit: This should have been a reply to @Cryonical, enjoy me getting needlessly angry at bridges going poof for no reason.
Immersion…IMMERSION?!?
How is it immersive to have a bridge spontaneously fall apart just from a eprosn crossing it? A real bridge would never, ever do that.
A bridge is made specifically to have people walk on it, and cross whatever is beneath safely. A bridge with even a slight chance of braking just from being used as it should be, i.e. a person walking over it, is a terrible bridge that shouldn’t have been built in the first place.
So, my point? A bridge that will fall apart just from a person walking on it 1/however many times is a terrible bridge.
When people build anything, they don’t want it to be terrible.
So no, a self destructing bridge is anything but immersive.
So what should a bridge be? Destructible? Yes. Prone to weather? Sure. Spontaneously falling apart? Hell no, what even is the point, introducing needless annoyances?
If not for immersion idk why Vetex added them to AA in the first place
For, like, danger or something?
I think the falling bridges added a nice touch to the game but yes, it’s annoying. Also, bridges only broke in AA when you walked on them, and not often
Oh they were hella annoying back in AA.
I think it was one of the stupidest, most out of place, needlessly infuriating parts of the game. And they broke Every. Single. Time.
You may consider yourself lucky for being able to cross the same bridge more than once, I never had that luxury.
As you may notice, I dislike bridges just falling apart when I dare to use them for what they’re meant for. Like, is my character really that fat? Is that what the game is trying to tell me? Is it a 4th wall break reminding us of how unrealistically large our inventories are?
We may never know, but what I do know is that it was annoying as all hell, and I will passionately fight to not go throught the same struggles again.
Pretty sure people just sucked at building bridges in AA, or were too poor to fortify them or put their attention on other things. Some places had stronger bridges. Since AO will be after the events of AA, the people who make bridges might have 2 brain cells instead of 1. Oof.
They better be masters of building those suckers.
The practice they get from building ships that should withstand cannon fire, harsh weather and magic attacks better carry over and suffice for making a bridge that can take a single person without the ropes snapping.
Imagine building fortified boats, powerful cannonballs, are able to build fine homes, statues, hideouts, and memorials. Your people have made advanced weapons for years and years, like metal swords, katanas and cutlasses capable of controlling the air to attack your enemies, and powerful guns, all of different shapes and sizes. You’ve built advanced boats, incredible and sturdy armor, and metal able to capture the magic energy within and expell it, pulsing through the weapon. There’s books, literature, castles, and bows, the string pulled and fine-tuned to the millimeter.
tbh it shouldn’t be “randomly breaking” like when theres no players or anything, but it should be random breaking when a player cross over at a small chance or so, just like AA
I was either really lucky or the chances of a bridge breaking were pretty small because I only fell off like 5 bridges in all of AA and just ulted back up.
