just thought of this, and before you bomb it with NO!!! YOUR QUESTIONS AND IDEAS TRASH!!! let me just explain my thought behind it.
basically, yes it would get removed in this scenario BUT. when you go to poseidon to “get your awakening” there would be special dialogue thats something along the lines of “oh your weak but when your stronger you’ll get the cool ability something something also im poseidon” and because ren or warren whatever this deadbeat fathers name is says “did you get your awakening” there would also just be special dialogue for that, and yes you would immediately get your awakening at level 119 if you decide to skip the level lock.
this would allow you to progress the story to the Nimbus Sea earlier and way more quicker, and this could possibly even enable Arcane Odyssey Story Speedrun videos…
but anyways this was just a thought i had while eating my food…
Yes, the Level Lock on awakening should get removed and made so you unlock it when you get level 119.
There really isn’t a good way to level up that much further over 100 without progressing the story up to Windrow. This would do almost nothing.
I miss read this; I do feel the wording was slightly poor— but this is mostly on me.
Anyways i still don’t like the idea of removing the lock:
You could open more space for speedrunning… but in terms of player friendliness? This change would probably suck. A lot of newer players struggle because they’re under the level recommendation of the game, such as with the Calvus fight- but this would just be an additional can of worms;
You’d be severely undergeared for Nimbus, almost regardless of what you do (following the AO storyline and doing almost every quest / island exploration is only ever going to put you at like ~100 Levels).
Class specific gear won’t unlock; Most boss drops are completely unsuable; You would still be exempt from your awakening effects; Your ship is still going to be a Caravel/Ketch; the lack of a restriction basically tells you to “Keep going bro, nothing bad will happen”.
I’m pretty sure it’ll lead to a ton of situations where people lockout of Nimbus by starting the Maria quest… then are just kinda bound to give up (I don’t think the sea swapping Message occurs when you have an active storyline).
it could work, but it’d need a couple of handrails tbh.
You don’t need to as you CAN go up the rocks of Mount Othrys (though in select parts where the height is smooth), but new players wouldn’t know this (unless they’re REALLY willing to)
