Should titles and skills be shared across all files?

I was recently contemplating my other two abandoned files and noticed the senseless amount of grind required to achieve things I had already accomplished before on my main file. So I’m here to share my thoughts with you all and see what you think about them.

Firstly, titles, I have both the explorer and diver titles in my main file, and getting them once (especially explorer) was already exhausting. Now that I did it once, there is just no incentive whatsoever to do it even one more time, since I, as a player, already know every corner of the map and most underwater structures.

I honestly couldn’t care less about the clouds on the map or the low completion rate displayed on my screen. But why do I have to go through this MULTIPLE times just to prove that I did it once on another file? It feels like this discourages the use of multiple files, especially for PVE players that are completionists.

Secondly, skills. Unlike titles, skills also affect PVP players. Grinding cooking, brewing, and jewel crafting to perfect is not exactly a brain and skill-demanding task, but it’s mind-numbingly BORING. I think I speak for everyone when I say that no one wants to keep spamming E for 8 hours straight just to get perfect cooking on multiple slots.
Brewing and jewel crafting have it even worse on the player since gathering the necessary ingredients requires you to deal with RNG and an even longer grinding process, and this grind could simply be bypassed if you have friends who can hold your items for you, rendering it pointless. Jewel crafting specifically bypasses the grind even more since you can even buy jewels from players and have them forever.

You could argue: “Hey, if you can bypass the grind so easily, why do you care if you have to do it again or not?”
It’s simple, if the issue can be bypassed by having someone else hold your items, or simply buy it from someone, why even introduce the grind in the first place?

“Then why don’t you just buy your jewels while you slowly gather gems to max your skill?”
If I buy them from someone, I will most likely have all the jewels I need before upgrading my skill, making the extra grind pointless until new jewel effects are added.

As it stands now, I feel like these two systems only discourage the use of multiple files and artificially extend playtime in an unhealthy way. I wanted to hear everyone’s opinion on this. I’m expecting people to disagree with me on some aspects, especially regarding skills. But, I am hoping that depending on everyone’s opinion, we could make a QoL suggestion regarding titles so that players won’t need to grind for the ultra-legendary Elm Island chart multiple times.

"not reading allat :joy: ": In my opinion, having to grind titles and skills multiple times feels unnecessary and artificially increases the time spent in the game, so I wanted to hear your opinion on this.

Its a pain to level up skills. Though since I also have files on an alt I’d have to grind anyways for the skills and titles if I want them over there.

But I agree titles should belong to every file not just the one who completed it.

I second this. I SECOND THIS SO HARD.
I’m still grinding for bronze sea explorer on my warlock main. We had an elm chart earlier, but my friend got the credit before I got it.
So now we have to look for ANOTHER elm island chart.
After over a month of looking for one, we have to find another.

It would be so nice if we got all the titles and stuff on all files, though. It’d be so convenient to be able to make perfect meals and potions right off the bat, but if exp transferred then we’d also have perfect jewels for lvl 20s.

This is a valid point, but I do think that while you are speedrunning the story again you wouldn’t be able to gather enough good items with more than 1 gem slot up until Calvus or even later when nimbus sea gets added

Titles should 100% be shared but skills should be an option due to some people either wanting to speedrun or just have a completely clean new playthrough after a long hiatus on playing the game

yeah sure
some could argue against skills cuz they do affect the gameplay but idc, grinding so many times is annoying

If donator titles can spread across files, i see no reason for Explorer, Diving, Master Angler, to not follow the same route.

Edit:
As for skills i’d personally hold off on it tbh, you’re going to want to trade gems and the likes between your files anyways.

Yes, it should. There’s no reason for it not to save.

Also, I remember before I reset my stats I had a berserker with axe slash. After I reset stats to Wind Conjuror the Axe Slash was deleted. It’d be nice if we could get the items we used back after a stat reset.

the thing about skills is that levelling them up would be even more valuable if it transferred since now it’s a permanent boost, and if you regularly run multiple files it’s much more enjoyable with having it just increase over time

The current spells are kinda easy to get but I imagine that being able to lose a lost+ spell like this could lead to some frustrating situations

Titles?
definitely, i have the master angler title on my 500+ hour main slot and theres no fucking way im going trough that shit again 2 whole fucking times.
(not even gonna mention the people with the extra files gamepass, thats just psychological horror at that point)

Skills?
idk, defo would be a nice QoL

in the case of bronze sea abolitionist (the only reputation-based title as far as i’m aware), i feel like you shouldn’t be able to equip it on your 100k+ fame hero, but i 100% get why you’d want everything else to be shared

Titles 100% I don’t really want the skills to be transferred tho, just kinda makes them less important and unique

im kinda mad that bronze abolitionist doesn’t have a positive renown counterpart, since its the only non-leaderboard title I don’t have.

Just play on 1 file
