In Redwake, there’s a guy who explains that there’s an event called the Sharkara. During this event, all the Redwake warriors get on three ships, named the Three Serpents, and sail outside of the Jaws looking for the biggest sea monster they can catch.
At a certain point (maybe locked behind story progression rather than level, because this is a time-dependent event), a sidequest unlocks in Redwake that lets the player participate in this event. The quest is simple–fight and defeat a sea monster that has at least X amount of HP, then return to Redwake.
It’s a simple sidequest, but maybe completing it could unlock a purchasable special Redwake ship modeled after the Three Serpents, with several attachment slots and increased damage against sea monsters.
That sounds so cool, id love vetex to add events that are mentioned in the game as like holidays. A sharkara holiday for a limited time could be cool too. Like, you get rewards based on how many sea monsters you kill
Introducing a quest at literally the start of the game but making it inaccessible until later in the story is kinda weird. It would be better if it was introduced at Sailor’s Lodge.
The side quest is fine. It would work better if there was a way to consistently find high tier sea monsters (good thing a suggestion like that already exists!).
Having an entirely new ship type as a reward would be cool, but I would prefer a bunch of ship parts and vanity instead. I prefer being able to customize any ship in the future rather than one. I like the idea of getting specialist ships from ways aside from grinding galleons though.
(Also I think I’ve heard the name “Sharkara” in suggestions before…)
Maybe the crew was running low on supplies, and they needed to stop at sailors lodge to restock. The one who was tasked with getting more supplies is the one who gives you the quest, while the rest are (canonically) on the ship.
The fact that vetex already has a longboat planed would make a quest like this a great way to introduce it.
The real problem is, where is the player supposed to buy it? Making the player go back to Redwake for the reward when the quest didn’t force the player to go anywhere close to there doesn’t feel right. Maybe the crew (for reasons explained in quest dialogue) gave one of their ships to the shipwright at the lodge. We can only purchase ships once anyway, so it’s not unreasonable that they had one.
