Author's Note
This story takes place at the time of King Calvus IV’s death. Not everyone knows about it yet, but some do. Most of the characters mentioned, besides, of course, the main character, actually exist in the game. I tried as hard as possible to make the story make sense and be possible within the confines of the current AU, with the end of the Bronze Sea storyline. For this reason, I will probably not be making more parts.
I hope you enjoy this story.
Silyake
Part 1
I still remember that day like yesterday.
It haunts my nightmares as clear as crystals.
It looms behind every sentence I utter.
Tucked inside every single piece of the Bronze Sea.
The day that my father Shappa was murdered by the very people who taught me.
He had told me that the day would come, but I had never fully believed him.
How could a kingdom dedicated to protection do such a thing as mercilessly kill one of their citizens?
And yet, it happened.
I was done with my magic training for the day, and I had wanted to tell my father what I had learned. I had learned how to modify my blasts.
I came to my house to see Captain Larcos, my instructor, talking to my dad. He was being held by two ensigns. I hid behind a tree.
Captain Larcos began reading from a piece of paper.
"Dear Caption Larcos,
How have you been? I would like to ask a favor.
Please take care of all the parents of OA Experimentation Squad 2.
Sincerely,
King Calvus IV."
“I assume you know King Calvus IV?” Larcos asked mockingly.
Da glared at Larcos. “The villagers will not stand for this. You truly believe that Shell Island, and the other provinces of Ravenna, will stay silent while Ravenna kills its citizens?”
“They won’t know. And even if the Shell Island natives did, what would they do, the weak scum?”
Tears fell from my eyes, quietly and slowly.
Not sad tears, however.
Those could come later.
These were tears of anger.
I was going to get my revenge on everyone and every kingdom involved in these Experiments.
Larcos ordered the ensigns to bring Da to him.
Da looked around, taking in the beauty of Shell Island one last time.
Then, he saw a face sticking out from the side of a tree.
“And… what if someone tells Caria what happened? She would do something.” Da said, heavily hinting at me.
“Pirate Lady Caria is a wanted criminal. No one even knows where she is.”
Caria was a wanted criminal, but she was nice to the village folk, unlike the Grand Navy and most of the kingdoms, and only stole from the people who could afford it for the people who could not (hence why we harbored her). The Grand Navy and most kingdoms thought that Shell Island was some kind of underdeveloped hellhole full of degenerates.
Larcos started casting a fire blast.
I watched on in horror, knowing that doing anything would end worse than biding my time, but wishing I could tear Captain Larcos limb from limb.
Larcos fired the blast.
It hit Da in the face.
He screamed a scream of anguish.
A scream that sounded as if he had been holding it in,
and fueling it,
and molding it,
and tempering it,
for a thousand years.
I ran.
I could not bear to see the remains of his face.
A face melted,
burnt.
The same face that I had seen since I was a child
The same mouth that I had loved seeing smile
now, burnt
melted
its flesh peeled off like the skin of a banana.
I could not watch.
I ran to Caria.
She could do something, as my

said.
It hurt to even just talk about him.
I talked to Caria, and she told me a story.
It involved a few major characters and things.
Tucker
Morden
Iris
Neviro
The Order of Aesir
Ravenna
and
Winterveil
I’m sure you know this story.
She also told me about why I was so good at magic.
A secret agency had experimented on me and wiped my memory of it.
The Order of Aesir.
Then, I had been taken back to Shell Island.
Captain Larcos was training me with others who were similarly experimented on, and although he says he works for Ravenna, he truly works for the Order of Aesir.
We were the Order of Aesir Experimentation Squad 2.
Morden, Tucker, and their friend were Experimentation Squad 1.
A week later
Captain Larcos dismissed my parents’ death as an unfortunate accident.
Many of the other experiments’ parents were also killed. All “accidents,” of course.
The members of Experimentation Squad 1 are in the Nimbus Sea.
And we, as Captain Larcos had told us, were also going to the Nimbus Sea to take care of a few infidels.
I think we both know who those infidels are.
And I’m going to join them.
The Order of Aesir are forging double-edged swords.
And they don’t even realize it.
