Simple but effective melee weapon skills

The concept is very simple, add 2 common rarity melee weapon skills that are so simple but effective that most people should run at least one of them.

Slash(sharp weapons only):

  • Charge forward and commit an outward diagonal slash. Takes one air movement charge. Similar to crash. (0 weapons, not 30 weapons)

Swipe(any melee weapon):

  • Charge forward and commit an inward diagonal swipe. Takes one air movement charge. Also similar to crash. (0 weapons, not 30 weapons)

These skills’ notes can be purchased by a weapons vendor for very cheap as they are very simple skills.

They also do not share a cooldown, meaning you can chain them. However, you cannot put both of them on the same weapon.

A weapon which is light enough(daggers, spears, swords enchanted with ardent) can use those skills similar to teleportation skills such as flash strike or ethereal flash.

Reason to add this:

Many weapon skills(e.g. Whirlwind, shining cycle, raging impact, towering impact, beast instinct, sparrow thrust, devastate) typically incentivise the player to play close similar to melee, so why not add skills that allow that kind of playstyle. While weapons do not have things like poise damage, they need a skill that in the least close in the distance.

Apologies I don’t have any pictures this time I don’t know how to draw this well.

i agree with the concept but you’ve basically said many weapon skills incentivise the player to play close so why not add more skills that do the same? theres not really a difference between the 2nd skill you explained and something like mirrored river. both close distance and use slashes to do so.

Yeah, but it’s more of wanting to move to your face instead of passing through you.

oh ok i see what you mean now, i feel like that could just be m1s to be honest.

Gotta be real man, these are very boring and generic. Like I see no benefit to them being added sorry. Steps into the territory of fighting styles too much and takes up space on a weapon that could be used for way better skills.

thats true and also untrue because a skill for weapons to decrease space is very useful, i just dont see it needing to take up a skill slot when it could just be a specific mechanic for using melee weapons
