If this is such a good idea then I wonder why haven’t anyone tried implementing this already? Is it a novel idea that only been suggested now? Why haven’t any other games in or out of Roblox done this now?

The answer is no. I doubt anyone else has done this before and it’s not a good idea. Why? Because you just spent an unnecessary amount of effort implementing this just to make the punishment harsher when you can use the traditional methods that are far easier and have the same effect like:

  1. Increase the ban length for repeat offenders. (already done, strike system)
  2. Erase account data for breaking certain rules like macroing, and bug-abusing. (To punish the incentive of getting richer through unfair means)
  3. Perma-ban for breaking the rules a second time. (also already done, see moderate offense rules).
  4. Make the existing punishment harsher. (Like increasing the ban length for first strike to 1 month or something)
  5. Increase the punishment for people who are deliberately breaking the rules. Something like a person using macro for 4k hours would be punished much harder than somebody who only use macro for like 5 minutes.

However, if somebody decides it’s worth their time implementing this for any reason (like being funny) despite the cost outweighing the benefit then I don’t have anything against this.

As for the argument that “temp ban is just a vacation”, this doesn’t hold water because guess what? You play video games to have fun. Not being able to play this game when you want to is already a punishment in itself.
Using this logic, you might as well just perma ban anyone who breaks ANY rule because clearly “temp ban is just a vacation and the person being punished would learn nothing and simply try harder to avoid getting banned while breaking the rules”

Oh look, I criticized this suggestion so I must be an exploiter or somebody who’s breaking the rules?
What the fuck is this? Reddit? I never expected AO forum out of all places to be gatekeeping. Apparently, you are no longer allowed to criticize any idea that the forum hivemind considers to be good because otherwise, you are just some foreign terrorists trying to “ruin fun for everyone”

Most of this argument is decently solid though, I have disagree on some points

the point of “oh if its so good then why has no one done it” could also literally made for pretty much any good thing, like say, “oh if its so good, then why hasn’t anyone decided to stop using leaded gasoline”

well, you are arguing against a rule for giving people who ruin the fun others a worse punishment, on a forum that has a bunch of folks with shitty experience with said group. It’s just not really a good look for you, no offense.

this statement is mostly true imo, but it is a vacation, comparatively to other punishments

honestly, this argument is leaning into the slightly shittier side. whilst this punishment this suggestion is honestly a bit extreme, that doesnt mean that a temp ban is necessarily good. the logic of using “since temp bans arent cutting it means permabans will!!!”. its sort of just the ol’ slippery slope

watch me get cooked for this

True, nothing to argue against this. My point addresses the fact that some people who support this suggestion failed to recognize the flaws. Instead, they simply praise the suggestion while being blind to the fact that “good thing” may have some “bad thing”.
So the metaphor of “why hasn’t anyone decided to stop using leaded gasoline” doesn’t apply because maybe that person is aware of how bad leaded gasoline is but the car itself doesn’t support anything other than leaded gasoline so that person can’t stop using it.

I’m not surprised. What I am surprised about is that any legitimate criticism (from my perspective) against this suggestion is washed out as just “exploiters/rulebreakers not wanting harsher punishment” forum users calling others “rulebreaker/exploiters” when someone is disagreeing with this suggestion.

I’m gonna interpret this as punishment not being very harsh. In that case you can just make punishment harsher so that it’s not so much of a “vacation”.

The reason why I use this logic is because the “temp ban is just a vacation” argument failed to assume that first-time offender will learn their lesson and not break the rule again. It basically boils down to “once a rule-breaker, always a rule-breaker”

my analogy was coming from more of like a governments who knows its bad pov of not one of the average guy who knows full well its bad but fair.

additionally, you could argue that someone wants to add this to their game, but doesn’t have the shit to do so, similar to your counter argument

Lets permaban every minor offense then!

The point is that each punishment should be proportional to the crime. This punishment sucks because its far too harsh for minor infractions. Current punishments are more of a warning as people who break rules do deserve extra chances (if the action committed wasn’t too terrible).

I feel like getting both accounts like perma’d as a punishment is valid enough for what it is, I just think your idea of going about it is like way too overkill and people would be against it. I’ll also like guess that we’ll like agree to disagree about whether or not that Legendarex guy like deserves torture or not (especially since he wasn’t really harming anyone except like maybe the economy).

also my bad I tend to like shift through my points too fast but the exploiting part was like an addon to my earlier point.
