There are a plenty of sky islands in the War Seas, the Seven Seas and probably many more sea clusters, so why are there none in the Dark Sea? I have made a living island suggestion before, but this one would more likely be added.
How these could work?
These islands could spawn in ranges 3+, and the way to get to them is by finding a sea cannon you may know from AA. The sky islands are above clouds, so naturally there would be no rain particles. But another danger would be present: magic-radiated clouds. These clouds that islands are placed on shouldn’t be safe to walk on, and by standing on them for long enough would cause a magic explosion to occur, dealing high damage and applying the cloud’s effect (each cloud could have different magic). To make it fair, magic particles could accumulate under person’s feet, so when particles get dangerously intense, one should stop touching the cloud for some time (to prevent people from simply jumping, instead making them need to think twice). Islands themselves could present themselves with worn down signs of civilization, but mostly wilderness, just like normal Dark Sea islands. Many of these islands could look like sky island clusters, with cloud bridges to travel between them, the bridges, however, still are magic-radiated, so that would add some tension when travelling.
Why even add them?
You may ask me that now, and here are some ideas:
- These structures could be found high above sea level, and the higher it is, the rarer chests spawn. These islands could have more valuable loot in exchange for worse chest transportation.
- These islands could bring some more lore.
- A way to obtain Dark Sea Essentia by bottling clouds (?).
- Fun for exploring.
- Realism.
