Slavery system in AO (this is just for fun)

Inspired by real world event

I want to make this as suggestion but uhh, let just say I prefer not to fill suggestion with this garbage so here’s my idea. We can discuss and see where this will go, or maybe you all can just hate on me idk.

I gonna break this into 3 section. Slave Trading, Slave Prevention and Slave Usage.

To do any of this, you need to:

  1. Level 150 at least
  2. At least 250k renown (positive or negative)
  3. have Brig
Slave Trading

You save castaway, you bring them to bad guy location and now they are slave. As easy as that.

You can also use rope to kidnap NPC. The step to kidnap NPC as following:

  1. Buy rope from shipwright (they thought you use it for sail)
  2. Find your target NPC (Ropes cant affect boss/miniboss)
  3. Throw the rope
  4. Once the rope hit NPC, they will aggro to you. However, if you defeat them when the rope attached to them, now they will be at 1 HP instead of dying and they will go flop on the ground. You need to manually tie them up and bring them to your ship. They will have same mechanic as cargo and chest. Do note they will die if you dont pick them or when you attack them after putting them down. They can also drown so dont drop them.
  5. Profit

After kidnapped NPC can only become slave if you have brig. If you put them on brig, they will teleport inside the storage compartment of your brig. They require 10 storage per person so make sure you emptied it for maximum profit.

For Kidnapped NPC, you repeat how you did with castaway. Once they became slave, you can either sale or claim them. If you claim them, they will appear on your ship (maximum 15 slave at a time) and what you can do with them will be detailed in third section.2. 3. 3. 3. 4.

Slave prevention

Basically Slave Prevention is system to prevent player from engaging in slavery. What I mean this is basically notoriety, but specifically for this system.

When engaging kidnapping NPC or having slave on your ship, every ship capable of hostility will aggro on to you at certain radius, no matter your renown. Grand Navy will attack you immediately even if you have 250k+ fame if you have slave on your ship (understandably).

To somewhat reward people with pvp toggled because they now at risk of getting jumped by other player, they have 10% to not aggro ship for this reason (but they still aggro ship for other reason like attacking first or their renown).

If a player commit slavery prevention on another player, they can either release the slave or take them under new management

slave usage

Once you have slave, you can use them for multiple stuff such as:

  1. Hunting game. Once you reach an Island, you can use “The Hunt Begin” command to start minigame. This one will set the slave running on selected island and you need to find them all and kill them. Inspire God Valley incident. You can end the game by saying The Hunt Ended where they will gather at your ship. You have the option to free them, or kill them. I would choose the latter for the love of the game.
  2. Sacrifice. Slave can be use as bait for sea monster. You will force them to walk off the plank into open ocean, hoping to spawn sea monster of various kind. In War Seas, this include basically every shark, white eyes, Obolus and their variant. The chances for them to spawn vary. Dont ask me to make calculation. You can also use them as bait to summon sea monster in Dark Sea. but do note 15 of them might spawn nothing or spawn 15 omens. Very useful.
  3. Increase farm productivity. Send them to your island and assign them to your farm to increase its productivity. Yeah I got nothing for this.
  4. Organ Harvesting. This immediately kill them and you will only have small chance of getting working organ, you also need to have 3 Samerian Ice just to keep the organ fresh. After that, you can sell these organs to Assasin Syndicate all over war sea. Do note that after transaction you will immediately spawn bounty hunter (positive renown) or gravy (negative renown). Different organs have different success rate of harvest and different price. Heart for example sales for a lot of drachma but have very low chance of success. Meanwhile, eyeballs have high chance of success but low drachma gain compare to other. Won’t list everything but you get the idea

My next post gonna be my last one for this month. Luv you all.

Holy shit… the mental gymnastics needed to think about this being a feature in AO makes me laugh due to it’s absurdity.

Amazing satire. 10/10

When I was writing this, it somewhat sound plausible with content we have right now.

But I dont think roblox gonna let this slide. This is too brutal:sob:

There is a time where I visit an island that’s been claimed for treasure chart but soon find out all of the NPC castaways that’s been hired are all black.

You rarely get dark skinned castaways, so it’s a deliberate act for period accuracy.

for the first time in arcane odyssey history, slave labour

what the hell are we on about chat

Depictions of something in media does not necessarily mean the media endorses it

I’m just hoping we can utilize available resources

Unfortunately it seems a lot of the time the media must be extremely explicit, up to the point of holding neon signs, about the thing they’re portraying being wrong
I personally think it’s better if the readers go “Wait, this society is depicted as good, but they have a horrible thing. There must be some sort of twisted reasoning and context as to why this society thinks this unjust thing is fair”

Of course, there is the double-edged sword of said media actively excusing such behavior, like many power fantasy isekais with harems

Even in my own writing, my protagonist has some opinions that some people, even me, would say are really screwed up, but that doesn’t mean I endorse it lol

I am a certified professional dumpster diver and there was this one isekai light novel I read where the dude knew he was committing, and attributing to slavery, said to himself that it was a bad thing to do, and proceeded to grind money to get a hot slave woman because he specifically wanted her in “that” way. :face_vomiting:

Who let’s these people write, produce and publish these stories. In fact who the hell is the target audience :sob:

I’m not because I pirated that shit, well I pirate everything so it doesn’t matter regardless

Oh yeah this kind of depiction is super cool. My favorite example of this concept is the lore behind the enslavement of the Rigans by the Castellans under Solan’s authority in Rogue Lineage lore. Since a lot of people assumed that the god of order who’s attribute you gain by jailing criminals would be a purely benevolent or “good” god, but Solan is merely and very specifically the god of order, law, and subjugation… Subjugation including the enslavement of criminals and entire races related to chaos/Ardor.
