Okay I know this is completely out of the blue but I’m just gonna say it. Why must when anyone has good handwriting it’s considered girl handwriting while bad handwriting is considered boy handwriting? I’m in high school and there are still other kids and adults using these terms. I’ve been told basically all my life that I have girl handwriting when in fact I just have good penmanship. I’ve even been accused of falsifying schoolwork multiple times just because I can write down letters better than the average person and I’ve had to literally write things in front of people just to prove my worth.
How is the legibility of your writing based off of what gender you are? This whole thing isn’t really bothersome to me since I’ve gotten used to it but imagine how many people have been embarrassed and purposely changed the way they write at a young age just because it’s affiliated with a gender that they don’t identify with? I may be taking things way out of proportion but in all I just think instead of calling it girl/boy handwriting that we should normalize the terms good/bad handwriting more. Also if you do have bad handwriting like my brother, if you keep on practicing on it it’ll get better. It may look like chicken scratch but practice makes perfect. That’s all I have to say, thank you for listening to my TedTalk
