Best & second best: These 2 sound silly and catchy. I like them.
3rd: I think the flute part is too energetic compared to the rest of the instruments. The intro up to the flute was good tho.
ao contest and the first vid: Quite soothing. Idk why but it feels like nighty night background music in old games.
Most recent: It’s nice and energetic, but a bit short imo.
Couldn’t help but notice the use of dream bells in a lot of your pieces, and the way they opened is similar to eachother. Probably just me but that killed the vibe for a moment on some songs, namely your 3rd and self-proclaimed personal worst.
As for lyrics, I haven’t seen any in songs with flutes as the main instrument. But it’s not like, banned, so give it a try
thanks, also me realizing i put the wrong unused video (fixed now)
i can see what you mean a bit (bells), but im also kinda biased to have them somewhere in the song cause they are a fun instrument to me, so i will prob stick to leaving them at the end.
The flute was mostly because of lack of instruments (plus with the other instruements it sounds more japanese to me) and knowlage of how to used guitar right
Hi
I never really messed around with garage band and I don’t really know the style you’re going for too much (that being Jpop and such) but I can give you a few tips as a chronic music listener
My personal preference is prog rock, if that doesn’t really suit your style feel free to ignore any of my tips
General tips:
Some of the transitions (especially towards the end of your songs) feel a little rough. Especially on your 5th song, around 1:15. I suggest maybe adjusting your main melody a bit during the transition so it doesn’t clash with the new instrumental part it’s switching into
Your songs could use more bass/more complicated bass. It’s a core instrument. You included a bass in your 4th song but while listening to it I felt like it was just kinda there to set the tone. It could act more as its own instrument but whether that really fits with your style is up to you honestly
Your mixes could use some synth to give them a little more life. I suggest going for something smooth and bubbly to just give the electric piano instrument a backbone as support and to fit well within your style.
I miss a more atmospheric instrument in all of your work. It feels a little fast and empty sometimes. Something to kind of set the mood and leave a nice taste would probably add a lot to your music
What I liked the most about your music
Even though it’s not that close to my typical style I really liked the playful melodies. They added a lot of life into each song.
I also liked the use of the flute in your music. It added something unique to the mix.
