Spirit users/Oracles Lifespan Question | Weird Paladin Lifespans

So for review before my actual question, we know Mages and people who use magic generally live up to at most 500~ish years, using Architect Kalisite for example, him being middle aged so that could mean that an average to experienced mage can generally live up to 200 years all the way to 500 years depending on magic usage, the explanation being that the constant draining of magic leaves only spirit energy in the body, spirit energy being naturally creative and healing as well as one of the two energies that make up living beings in the AU, it extends a mage’s lifespan the more times it is left as the only source of energy for the body as you’re basically slowing your aging every time you drain your magic power.

Another important thing with spirit energy that makes it different with magic energy is that unlike magic energy, spirit energy is required for bodily function and when it is drained completely like you would do magic, you just die.

Now with that covered, I’d like to wonder, do spirit users and oracles have shortened lifespans? Excluding paladins which will get another paragraph, oracles and spirit users use up a lot of their spirit energy to cast rites and use relics, eventually leaving them with a body running off of majorly magic energy, a inherently destructive energy, would that shorten their lifespan? Maybe a combination of the overwhelming magic energy and the lack of spirit energy would be taxing on their bodies? Maybe they only live up to 40 - 50 years?

Now for paladins, they used both of their energies when battling, and logically they would end up with basically no magic energy and very little spirit energy. So that poses another question, do they get the longer life expectancy that regular mages get? Do they live shorter than oracles because they end up with even less total energy than both mages and oracles? Do they basically live the same amount of lifespan a regular human does? Lack of magic leaves you drained and lack of spirit makes you dead so what does one lacking in both (but not all their spirit) leave them with?

I was literally about to make the same topic what the hell

I was going to say that it’s weird that mages live longer as opposed to oracles, since oracles would have a lot more spirit energy so it would be the overwhelming force most of the time (unless of course you reachyour limit every single day)

Ohh, that’s a good point too. But do oracles actually get a larger pool of spirit energy after more usage/training? And also yeah I don’t think oracles or even mages would be using all of their energy for a fight

I like to imagine that Oracles/Paladins hardly use their own spirit energy.

Like for non-legacies, this task is definitely delegated to taking surrounding spirit energy and casting it through the Relic— otherwise, like you said, this would just kill a Spirit if they just miscalculated their Spirit usage. There also wouldn’t be too much of a point in using said energy since theirs is probably worse/equal to that around them as they rely on the Relic being a catalyst into the gods energy anyways. It would probably be expended if they modified their own physical shape though, such as with body modification. This thought does leave the gap that Relic users are capable of absorbing Spirit energy from people… but given that the regeneration stat (and Spirit Drain via its name) exists, this hopefully isn’t too far fetched.

As for legacies, the most probable answer is that they subconsciously imbue exterior spirit energy with their own. I think that instead of them losing their own, they swap some of theirs with the outside worlds. Over time they could convert normal spirit energy into that of their own, which would allow them to fight yet also have a potency limit.

yeah they do

I would kinda understand if mages do expend (almost) all of their magic energy when they’re training under a kingdom, because more practice → more capacity and you don’t have the drawback of being pretty defenseless for a day or so because the kingdom will protect you. but that would mostly count for training, since it would be a good idea to keep a bit of energy in a real fight in case of emergencies

I feel like people capable of using spirit energy would live even longer lives than mages.
The fact that they are able to expend it the way they do implies that they are able to rapidly absorb it from the nearby area, and this is shown ingame through spirit attacks having lifesteal.

I suspect that with a steady supply to work with, an oracle could live practically forever akin to a vampire because their well of spirit energy would never run dry.

Vampirism upscale

Can I spoil some lore for Athena’s wisdoms please

go ahead, I think there should be a spoiler tag function if you want to do that as well.

So it’s confirmed Theos is a legacy and Phoenix magic is a spirit mutation that utilises both magic and spirit energy so technically Theos was using both energies at the same time and he lived til around 900 but keep in mind he also used a regular mutation that being sun magic and also used fire magic so either spirit mutations do increase lifespans or Spirit mutations are more neutral where there is no life span decrease or increase but seeing as Theos used magic with no spirit energy those are what increased his life spanThis text will be blurred

This could mean two things, Oracles live more than Mages, or Oracles don’t get an extended life-span at all…

I wouldn’t be surprised if vetex decided on that to keep up the whole ‘magic is the pinnacle of power’ schtick

I was also thinking that the lack of spirit energy in comparison to the magic energy left in the body after extended relic/spirit usage would shorten lifespans, kinda like what happens with mages but opposite.

Although there’s the question while magic is harmful and can only harm, does the natural magic inside the body harm itself without spirit energy as a counterbalance?

But also the more you use spirit energy the more spirit energy you have so idk really.

goddamn it vetex just gimme a cool enemy who isn’t a mage, we literally only have argos and carina as storyline magic-less bosses :sob:

And also, zero mfing spirit user bosses in the storyline :sob: :sob: :sob:
