StarCitadel’s Worldbuilding Thread

I probably could’ve described the system better but any human (assuming they’re uncorrupted which does not exist in the modern day) would be able to use about any element you can think of, it’s a trait of the human species

The metal-based magic system that modern magic-users have to resort to is not elemental though, its probably closer to a hybrid between spirit weapons in AO and spells in Harry Potter (summoning elements with it is possible but not considered elemental magic)

Also worth noting the main character is an exception to the corruption rule because his soul’s corruption shell is essentially filled with holes, so his magic is pure white and he can use the more natural elemental magic

Any way to destroy the corruption via supernatural means/getting mythical creatures to purify it or smth?

nope
once you have it you’re just stuck with it
people have tried and failed miserably with disastrous consequences

In that case, any way to combine souls with leaving them intact?

If so, if its something like sea serpent + human, what effect would that have, amd what would human + human do?

Sorry for the questions, but im interested in this now.

I guess it would be theoretically possible to put souls in the same physical space, but that wouldn’t really do much other than kill whatever they came from

Souls from different species don’t really interact with each other at all, and souls from the same species only interact with each other under very specific circumstances

The closest thing I can think of to combining human souls is how new souls are created

Upon successful conception a teeny tiny portion of each parent’s soul will be implanted into the child; the resulting soul will grow as the child grows

Similarly to how a child will contain DNA from both the mother and father, that child’s soul will mix and match different attributes from the souls of the mother and father (this is why corruption spreads to offspring)

So stuff like the ability to use magic and the color of that magic will be passed down

And no need to worry about questions or anything; writing is literally one of my favorite things to do

You shoudln’t have said that. Get ready to answer a LOT of questions soon.

So whales are some of the strongest magic users alive, got it

With the sole exception of humanity, of course.

no
they have a lot more than pretty much every other animal out there
but they’re still animals who do not have enough power in their souls to make use of it

In comparison to the average human, how strong are mythological creatures like the sea serpents, and how many creatures are in the setting (since I know you and the other guy are keeping a lot of things under wraps, feel free to dodge this question)

humans have stronger magic than other mythological creatures by a long shot

this of course is not to say that a sea serpent (a giant ocean dragon that vomits greek fire) couldn’t fold a human with little trouble

there are a few hundred different types of mythological creatures but most of them aren’t going to be super relevant to the plot

Two more questions:

Is corruption literally just the guilt/sins weighing on people who flung the natural disasters at each other, and if souls are somehow separated from the body, could they form a conglomerate before dissipating such as minos prime.

Both of the above are dumb, so here is a real question: what metals are best suited for conducting magic energy (if you don’t have a concrete answer its fine)

Kavani corp’s wares & medications

its a consequence of abusing the powers given to humans by that which created them

yeah
they’re not powerful fighting forces like prime souls or anywhere near that level, but a dead person’s soul will generally materialize as a new creature that kinda just exists quietly without affecting anything other than some plants or other ghosts

any chemical element heavier than iron is able to conduct magic when combined with crystallized magic (yes this includes non-metals but good luck making a wand out of iodine or some shit)

but generally you want ones that don’t tarnish such as gold or silver

the infusion with magic makes the metal about as indestructible as it gets so their malleability isn’t an issue

glory to the federation!!!

Want to ask more about this, but this is most likely something that should be gatekept.

Would heavier elements such as lead work better, due to having a higher atomic weight or is gold and silver hands down the best?

How far along has humanity’s connection between magic and tech progressed in comparison to when they first united the two?

yeah its gonna be very gatekept
nobody will know, not even once the plot is complete

its one of those things that im gonna pretend is cool and esoteric and that I really know the answer but in reality im just not gonna dive into it cuz its honestly cooler that way

all I will say is humans are designed to be the stewards and guardians of life on earth and their magic is intended to help them accomplish that

they all work around the same efficiency
what determines their strength is how pure you can get it (discounting the molten magic infusion)

a piece made out of pure lead will be stronger than one made of 50% gold and 50% some other thing

lead is not a preferable base material because its heavy and toxic (you have to carry or wear your conductor)

id say it first got started around their industrial revolution and is enough to get them some futuristic technology (aircraft that defy physics, new medicines, weapons and more cool shit)

they’ve had around 500 years of progress, if you were looking for a nice round number

Ik,reason why we switched away from having it in EVERYTHING in the 50’s and 60’s.

Do me a favor pwetty pwease, search up a NEXT duel from armored core and lmk if this verse can do that bs.

Edit: specifically from 4 or 4answer

could you provide a link?

Here’s the first one I saw

i fear its not that advanced
