I actually had already planned to host something similar with friends and guilds that might want to come do it… Albeit with a more complex route and slightly more interesting rules.
During the race, there’d be preset “checkpoints”. Once somebody reaches the checkpoint, anyone that doesn’t reach it under a time limit is eliminated, and once that timer expires everyone is allowed to proceed to the next checkpoint. The route to take in order to each checkpoint is entirely up to the participants.
During the race, there’ll be one or more watchmen. Normally, interfering with another racer would cost you an elimination… but only if a watchman directly spots you doing it. If you don’t get caught, everything’s allowed! This makes for interesting strategies. If somebody dies during the race, they’re eliminated (unless they were killed by players not participating in the race).
This was the planned route in question. Checkpoints are still up for debate and rerouting may be necessary depending on how the universing is handled.
