Actually, that’s incorrect.
The average amount of triangles per model (of important objects) in video games in 2008 ranged from 6 to 14 thousands, meaning that there would be no problem encountering it a game engine of said time period.

unfortunately people see anything above 6k triangles in 2024 and lose their minds, not knowing modern GPUs from 2013 and above can handle triangles really well, Nvidia especially.
average hero asset these days ranges from 80-100k triangles.
I can’t really come up with a reason as to why that is, but I do have a few assumptions:
yeah, unfortunately Roblox is really behind, and the fact that they are fighting 3 fronts at the same time, PC, Console and Mobile doesn’t help it either.
If you need more than 4000 triangles, your project is too big to be a Roblox hat.
People in 2024 be seeing a number above 1k and thinking “MY PC” as if their PC’s GPU shouldn’t have at minimum millions of transistors.
