This is a relatively small change, so I can afford to be brief. It bothers my perfectionist brain to see a greataxe use “Sword Draw: Mountain Wind”, so I suggest that these “sword draw” moves be treated like move variations. I will also include knives and daggers since they aren’t exactly swords.
I will not include greatswords, katanas, or any other sword variant with a different name even though it would cover basically all bases for a few different reasons. Firstly, “Greatsword Draw” sounds awkward and this is a purely visuals-driven suggestion. Secondly, since they are all swords anyway, Sword Draw is still accurate and thus changing it would be a slight waste of time.
There is already precedent for the names of moves changing between different weapons, such as with Polearm Throw turning into Trident Throw or Spear Throw, so this isn’t completely bonkers.
The moves in particular are:
Light Bladed:
- Sword Draw: Flash Strike → Knife Draw: Flash Strike
Heavy Cleaver
- Sword Draw: Mountain Wind → Axe Draw: Mountain Wind
- Small problem: can an axe be drawn like a sword? “Axe Draw” doesn’t feel right to me and I’m not sure why, but I will keep it in because it is an improvement over “Sword Draw” on an axe.
Colossal Cleaver
- Sword Draw: Mountain Wind → Halberd Draw: Mountain Wind
- This may need to change when different Colossal Cleaver type weapons are added. I don’t fully recommend giving future Colossal Cleaver weapons their own names for Mountain Wind for the same reasons I don’t recommend different swords getting different names for Sword Draw moves
- I’m not sure if Halberds can be drawn like swords either
