Tell me about your experiences with World of Magic

yeah that was the most shocking thing

you can definitely tell how bad i was at the game

i actually found an old ss of my build last night

:skull:

uhh
i remember spawning at that one town northwest of ironport
quitting because i had to fight npc’s (i had a skill issue alright) for a quest
coming back
replay in like 2020
‘man how do i charge energy again’
dont know how
deleted first file
remade first file
respawned same town
went to ironport
making a ‘good’ trade (it involved fish, and i didnt know sell values at the time so i lost value)
also traded smth for an old spear (i assume crowns)
got a bow that i proceeded to never use
needed cash for weapon enchants
sad that i couldnt buy the crossbows from there because of culture
stole a minotaur kill from a guy with gold magic during mino hunt-down quest
‘DUDE WHY. YOU STOLE MY KILL. NOW I NEED TO FIND HIM ALL OVER AGAIN’
sounded like he had this happen to him before
returned to said town northwest
found a high level bounty guy fishing
‘hi’
‘hi’
went to summerhold
went fishing with a buncha strangers
logged off for the last time because i lost motivation due to the tgr
uhh thats it

also i used to visit that one abandoned tower that always regenerated villian npc’s
and visited the spire jail thing once (couldnt climb on top tho sadly)
and found a villian npc quest which i was sad that i couldnt accept and ‘bruh why cant i kill you youre a villian’

I’ve never played WOM, but a lot of people I’ve talked to said that they didn’t like the game / that AO was superior.

clearly they never bothered to try exploring the map
there was more emphasis on exploring at your own pace instead of rushing off to some random storyline objective

i preferred woms exploration, plus i have alot of nostalgia since it was my introduction to vetexs games and i played it alot during lockdown

but yeah ao is better in pretty much every other way (no surprise there)

Think like if Arcane Odyssey was casual, had only magic, and everything was land-bound. Also, running cost stamina.

It was a lot more calming, but less of a game, if that makes sense. It’s like comparing old minecraft Pocket Edition with 1-2 friends to Hypixel.

world of magic was the most fun pvp and guild-wise for me. i remember the day the guild update dropped, i was part of this guild salvatore and it was complete chaos. literally everyones fighting and dying and everything. after the lb spots were pretty concrete i started to get more into pvp and i was just at the coliseum running 1v1s all the time. that’s pretty much how i know people. guilds were toxic but it wasn’t that bad imo. wom was mad fun.

Accidentally stole a chest and was scared for my life.
Yeah pretty much it

Killing innocent, defenseless civilians was always a blast tho

When I first joined not long after the game properly released (so after the playtests) I found it really cool that there was an animation for opening doors.
I also quite liked how the injuries looked. I would always be covered in them
My very first quest was to defeat a dark wizard who had ice magic that I got from a magic council camp in the whispering forest.
My first apprentice quest was to defeat one of the high level villain npcs who had magma magic. (I also think his title was either “the butcher” or “the murderer”)
I remember it being really easy to avoid pvp in most areas because you could just hide in a tree and nobody could find you because there were trees everywhere.
I actually wasn’t that bad at pvp in WoM, I defended myself against a few attacks and even won a fight against someone without taking damage in front of a small group of spectators.
I caught a golden tiger shark very shortly after fishing was added (less than 3 days) and kept it until the brewing update in AO killed it.
I remember that when I was bored I would just run around fighting random bandits, or trying to lead bandits to fight king david silver or any hero npcs.
I remember one specific hero npc called “Taylor Marshall the courageous” and I found his name funny.
I attempted to kill king david silver at level 1 a few times, the best attempt got him to half health.
The day that the storyline update dropped was quite chaotic. There would be about 9 people fighting the minotaur at once, and there would only ever be about 3 bandits existing on the map at any given time. I also ran into vetex who was also trying to complete the same storyline quests as me.
I reached the maximum reputation (7000) by climbing silent tower every in game morning and looking for villain lairs and minotaur.
I also have the memory of chasing a level 1 around with the minotaurs axe, I don’t entirely remember what they had done for me to decide that they deserved that.
I did have someone try to smugly tell me that there was nothing I could do to stop them from killing the shopkeepers in a town because they were below the pvp level. It was at that point that we both found out that if someone is causing a threat, you can attack them regardless of level.

Overall, great experience. It had a lot of little things going on that I appreciated, and while most are carried over to AO, I have got used to them so they don’t feel the same.

all i can remember is bombing towns and going to prison alot and sneaking into towns and assainating the mayors

You have something you would like to share?

woms exploration was so much better than AO’s man…

i feel like some of it is ienvitably lost with the size reduction of individual areas thanks to turning the game into islands, but there’s other stuff I don’t like about it such as exploration tasks…

exploration tasks kinda turn the whole thing into a checklist which doesnt really affect you until you wanna get bronze sea explorer then it sucks (why are treasure charts even listed as an exploration task if theyre randomly generated)

i also dont like being able to know everything thats on an island immediately its kinda lame

overall if AO’s exploration was more similar to WoM itd be incredible

Vetex changing it on newer islands with multiple secrets so it says “0/?” Instead of say “0/2” is a step in the right direction though

the game definitely feels like it is on a dollhouse scale. with that sort of feeling no matter how much your character tans it will never be truly immersive

i personally think that fewer but bigger islands in future seas could help with the issue cause… honestly so many islands are like incredibly small :sob:

that’s my issue with like… almost all of the wilderness nimbus sea islands (tidecliff and drakos arch are the exceptions) theyre all really small and dont really have anything unique to them

it feels like their most significant purpose to even existing is being another place for clans to claim, which is important, but… its such a massive waste to me

I excluded tidecliff and drakos arch from that as they both have unique aspects to them that mitigate the hollow feeling of exploration i get in a lot of AO

One thing I will say though is that the first nimbus sea islands to the Makrinaos secrets is genuinely the biggest leap in quality i think ive ever seen a roblox game have and I really hope it continues

Getting chased by a person in a maid costume wearing a minotaur hat who was also wielding a minotaur axe because I didn’t accept their trade.
Good times.
that and some roselight member trying to trade swift minotaur boots for my headless

I dunno man, I’m able to get pretty immersed. I like the small islands too, makes me feel like I’m in a real sea that has real little islands that actual seas have as well.

i remember being in voice chat with 3 friends and we joined a random guy that was fishing alone

we immediately ran away when he started talking about the seasonals economy
