Tell me about your experiences with World of Magic

We’ve finally gotten to an Arcane game that I’ve played.

Hello, people who played world of magic, I need you guys to tell me about your experiences playing World of Magic. Tell me about what it was like playing it, what interactions with the other players were like, any specific memories you have of it. And please, give me as much information as you can. I need all the details I can get. Tell me in depth about YOUR experiences playing that game.

I remember playing WoM a bit a month after its release, then revisiting it and getting addicted. It was so peaceful, yet intense when the situation called for it. There was no real meta to worry about, in PvE and PvP, which was great.

Getting stuff upgraded was a total chore, though; as a hero, you had to hope you found the corresponding traveler or that the nearest shopkeeper wasn’t asleep, and as a villain, you could only rely on the travelers. There was also no way to disenchant.

ngl, i harassed 5 dude for their sunken and it worked

killed minotaur like 50 times and never got his axe

i first played the day WoM first released (unfortunately missed all the open testings)

It sounds vague but WoM being an experience is the best way I can really describe it

WoM is genuinely the closest I’ve ever seen a roblox game get to the vibe of exploring games like Breath of The Wild for the first time. Despite the environment not having too much special it felt alive, it didnt feel like I was playing a game if that makes any sense (unlike AO where I’m kinda always aware of that)

I played the release day of every single major update too, I remember getting obliterated by Minotaur the first day of the Story update, getting addicted to fishing day 1 of the fishing update, eventually starting my own guild (which didn’t last very long) early on into the long wait for AO, etc.

Speaking of I was extremely obsessed with fishing in WoM :sob: I probably had 3,000+ fish (not sure but it was a lot) while only having like 70 hours in the game on my main slot

I remember getting randomly murdered by some guy right outside Riverville only to be fishing with him and a few others in Ironport literally 20 minutes later, fishing brung people together

I also remember introducing a few of my friends from other games to WoM back then, which were all fun times. One of those friends ended up being the other part of a duo with me for a little bit because we both played really frequently (he was the 1st and last person to join that guild i mentioned… It was called Catholic Church of AO or something close if you were curious :sob:)

I spent basically the entire first half of the TGR wait as a hero in WoM, but after finally getting all the boss drops with Exiled armor (in a trade that was 100% a scam but i didnt care) I decided to become a villain and followed the tradition of blowing up silent tower all the time

A while after that I ended up wanting to get my rep back up, which back then required surrendering to the Magic Council like 8 gajillion times. Luckily there was also like 4 other people there around the silent tower (most were also repeatedly surrendering) so it wasnt that boring

and then disaster struck… my old roblox account got TERMINATED… i absolutely deserved it though (that account got terminated in april 2021)

after this all the cool parts of my story with WoM are kinda over… I still played but never got the player interaction, goofy things happening, etc. that made WoM so fun originally. + by that point the atmosphere was carrying the game like crazy for me

I still love WoM and it’s concept as a game and I hope something like it is made again in the future, whether its by vetex or someone else (definitely someone else)

all in all WoM was a 10/10 experience

WOM was the type of game where you could spend 30 minutes running around and not even notice it; or because you had to (boss drops)

some guy tried to kill me in the 2nd playtest while saying stuff like “Ah… It’s high noon, my fire magic is stronger than ever! Face me coward!” and then i shot him 3 times with a crossbow and he died

Exiled 1200m away

all I can remember is

  • shenanigans with Fire Magic(my friend called it “Doctor Strange Magic” because it looked practically the same
  • walking simulator(no dashes back then :pensive:)
  • epic Breath of the Wild-esque feel to it(it was a lot more open-world than AO)
all in all, it was truly a World of Magic.

It was fun, but I had picked ash magic cause I thought it looked cool, but apparently it wasn’t really all that great. The map and world was neat, but there really wasn’t much to do but walk around and fight other players. It wasn’t until the Exiled and Minotaur were added that there was something that was really fun to do PVE wise aside from maybe harassing the magic council and trying to kill King David Silver. It was a lot of running around to complete quests and that got kinda boring. I remember groaning when I’d see the objective for a quest being like a bajillion miles away. It got to the point where all that was really left to do was just try to get sunkens. I really wanted to get a sunken sword before the game was replaced with AO, but it never happened and I got bored. I did get a sunken sword in AO though so hey not all bad.

Besides that though I did actually have a ton of fun just talking to people and hanging out while fishing, or when the bosses first came out and I joined a massive group of people who would go around to hunt down the Exiled. The most fun was when you would interact with people which I know was the same with most games, but WoM was kinda the first where I really did that. Getting to know random people just for 30 minutes and talk about what we were excited for to come out for the game in the future, or eventually once AO was announced we talked about what we hoped to see there. Because of that even if now I think AO is a lot better in most ways, I still got a pretty big soft spot for WoM.

At first, I was terrified of everything. Made my first file in 2021 (some would know her as my OC Nikki), town immediately got attacked, I ran. Spent the next 3 hours in the wilderness opening chests, never leveling up because I had no idea how to shoot magic attacks. I thought it was just directly in front of you, so I assumed that it was bugged when it shot wherever my cursor was. Did the exact same thing on my next file, but by the time I made it to my 3rd, I figured out how the game worked.

You know that one abandoned cabin near Mount Seawatch? I considered it to be my OC Aksana’s hideout. I would spend literal hours there, roleplaying by myself because no one ever came that way. I worked out almost all of my OC lore while just sitting there.

Once I got to max (almost 2 whole years later, because I forgot about the game for a while), I made a friend, Winter Water ingame, who wore nothing but blue. Blue hair, blue clothes, blue accessories. We would wait for a town to become under attack (since we were both heroes) and just destroy stuff as soon as the threat happened, just because we could do so without repurcussions. We also went out and fought bosses any time we got bored. Eventually, once AO came out, only a few months after I had started playing again, he helped me beat Elius for the first time, and was with me when I caught my first sunken, but those are stories for another time.

On my 3rd file (Lilith, I know y’all don’t really know my OCs, but whatever), the last week or so before the revamp, I spent so much time fishing in the same pond in Bronze Grassland, like 2 hours a day. I got max crowns just from fishing there. I did all this because I thought money would save over the revamp. You should’ve seen my reaction when it didn’t.

This just hurts to read. I’m honestly sad for you.

tragedy :sob:

Can’t really remember much, but I’ll try to put some of my experiences here. (yap incoming)

Started to find out about World of Magic when it was in their open betas. I was probably just watching old AA videos for nostalgia and then wondered what vetex was up to, so I checked his page and then found World of Magic. I think the 2nd open beta was when I found out about it.
(Not-so-fun fact, I tried looking for the WOM testing badges under AO and couldn’t find them. Maybe they were deleted? Either way, it kinda sucks for a piece of history to be gone.)

Anyways, can’t remember much about my very early days other than a super random memory of just playing the 2nd open beta and spawning in the Whispering Forest (without trees so it was just a big plain area) but I remember having lots of fun playing on and off. I think I started playing more actively around the release/fishing update though. I created a crystal file on release since I thought it looked cool. (swear I had another file before that but idk I think I just got bored and deleted it or somethin)

Again, can’t remember much but I definitely did get some major nostalgia. It kinda felt like playing AA 2. I just had so much fun exploring the place and whatnot. I was definitely a full PVE player though as I didn’t really know how to make builds and stuff and just wore what felt strong. I also definitely did not PVP and just wanted to enjoy the game. I remember fishing up a sunken sword (that was sadly wiped in the Mistral update with my og username) and a pair of sunken leggings and just wore those since they looked and felt cool.

I believe I was a hero on that crystal file, but when the bosses update dropped I really wanted to farm the Exiled cause he had a cool ass weapon and sick gear so I transferred everything to a new file and wiped the crystal one in favor of an explosion file.

Had lots of fun with the explosion file as just blowing up towns and being a criminal was a lot more fun than being a hero. Definitely felt more freedom when playing as a villain. (it was also really fun to just destroy the silent tower with the minotaur axe skill)

I also have some memories of making a few friends on WOM through boss farming. Wanted to farm some of the bosses and found a group of people also farming so I decided to join them. Added two people from that group and farmed bosses for a few days (maybe weeks? unsure.)

Can’t remember much after this anymore as I started to play less during guilds update and sorta lost contact with the friends I made. (I still remember their usernames and wonder if they play AO actually.)
I definitely hopped on to grind the Halloween event though.

After that though, I think I just started to play less since the TGR was coming and I didn’t feel like I had a reason to grind anymore except for farming boss weapons and gear.

Near the end of WOM’s life, I transferred everything from my explosion slot to a fresh new AO-prepared slot a few days before shutdown and just fished at Ironport until the game closed. Ironport was being destroyed of course and global messages were going crazy.

That’s all I can really say. Was a fun game to explore and relive my nostalgia and in my opinion, felt more favorable towards PVE players than AO does (since hunting didn’t really exist except for guilds but I wasn’t in one)

random wom clips i found in my folders

more random screenshots i found

kinda sad cause i didnt accept it but whatever

well, it might not be as good as AO, but going back to it is so much fun and brought back nostalgia from 2020. It’s even funnier now that the level cap has been moved from 90 to 10,000. The only problem is the potential lag when someone destroys the silent tower.(it is to note that past level 150, leveling up just becomes slow when you are a good guy, so just switch to evil past that point.)

Mostly walking around and listening to the game’s music, it was quite a pretty world when I was first immersed in it despite the lag lol.

Besides that, I went on a killing spree because I decided to be a pvper on a random day (killing anyone who I see with little to no reason)

After that whole ordeal I decided “hey I want sunkens too” then fished (I only got the Sunken Iron set)

When that’s done, I just played the game to walk around and thinking about my OCs lol.

Although WoM has such little content, the detail in the wilderness, npcs, towns and everything just made the exploration so much better than AO imo

3 Buff guys (me and my friends) cutting down Silent Tower like a damn tree for the giggles (and crash our games)

Thats literally the only memory I have of WoM

that second clip was downright funny

Either I had a skill issue or the quests where you go fight a bandit/dark wizard weren’t balanced for low level

Also 20 blast was actually usable
