The temperature is AO is a very unique feature, and it even changes depending on which magic you’re charging effects are.
However, I feel that other than that, temperature doesn’t really have much depth. All it really does is slightly increase the damage you take from specific attacks and changes the screen a bit. I think that one feature a lot of us were hoping for would be armor you could buy that are resistant to certain temperature changes (a lot like BOTW), and also have some bigger effects outside of combat, such as:
High temperatures/heatstroke will make your hunger meter deplete 10% faster
Low temperatures will reduce your agility by 15%
Extremely high temperatures will increase hunger depletion by 15%, along with giving you an insanity status effect
Extremely low temperatures/Freezing will reduce your agility by 20%, also with an insanity status effect.
Certain armors will be able to help with resistance to temperatures, along with enchantments that will also give resistance.
Temperature actually used to have a greater impact;
But these effects ended up being too significant in combat, which lead to them being reduced to what they are now.
I’m kind of scared to imagine how frustrated people would be if the system remained as it was originally intended. Many players would definitely not be happy about it
I know that it would’ve been more frustrating, but what we got was much less than I was expecting.
Outside of combat, temperature is basically a screen color change and nothing else.
Maybe a compromise would’ve been that in-combat it’s only the current synergy affects, but out of combat it does the stuff in the screenshots? I can see that being a happy medium
