About a month ago, I grinded for the Rod of Discord for an hour or two and was obviously unsuccessful. That was the first and only time I ever grinded for it.

Today I was messing around with a minecart track and it fed into a hallow biome, I remembered about Chaos Elementals and was curious if the Chaos Elementals would teleport to me on a track; One did. I went down into the water where it fell and killed it in the off chance it dropped something.

I picked up a Rod of Discord. I’m still processing it. How rare is it?

1/500 sounds like a better chance than 0.2% to me somehow, even though they’re the same.

I’m also on a quest to find every critter in terraria and put them all in terrariums and label and organize them.

Apparently, there’s some critters that are infamously difficult to find. Pain

Reminds me of when I killed 2 Frozen zombies and got 2 snow coats. The odds of getting 2 in a row were 1 in 22500. The snow coats were completely useless. I still have never gotten a rod of discord.

The “celebrationmk10” secret world seed actually gives a 1/100 drop chance for the rod of discord (It’s on the wiki).

Grinding in a nutshell
You randomly get a rare item when you least expect it but when you spend ages grinding you get nothing

Rod of Discord farming is too painful for me, so, whenever I can, I have a QoL mod installed that makes getting it easier
