Self-imposed challenges are fun. One of these is the “fishing-only” challenge, but I’ve decided to create a specific ruleset for it. I have dubbed this specific ruleset the Bass Pro Shops Challenge.
Here are the rules.
You must reach 125 only using fishing and cooking fish meals.
You may only progress the story up to the point where you rest at the Red Fin and get clothes (Because I hate looking like a hobo)
The only fighting you’ll be doing is against the pirates in Redwake.
You must complete the Redwake fishing quest, this is mandatory as it gives you free fish bait and a free rod without having to either scour chests for a rod or having to wait 3 hours to trade a rod from an alt.
You can either sell fish for more fish bait or you can cook them for additional EXP.
You can also sell any non-fish items you catch (Not Sunkens though, they’re too valuable)
You may allocate stat points and test abilities for fun, but you can’t fight anything.
With that said, I begin my quest on an alt account to level a file to 125 only using fish-related methods of gaining experience. I’ll occasionally post updates in this thread.
Sadly, the game forced two of those levels onto me due to story progression, but I assure you every single level I gain onwards from here will be from fish-related activities.
I’m already getting bored, so I’m just going to…cancel the challenge. I’ll still level up the file though, I think I’m going to go for a Water Conjurer (I know it’s a bad build but that’s okay because I have fun leveling up)
