The Boreas Family Tree

This post is to continue a conversation held in another post, but I felt it should be moved elsewhere. This post aims to explore the Boreas family tree.

The first bit evidence is Neviro Boreas’s notebook.

The piece of information most worthy of note is that he describes, “Kessler’s eldest son, my father.”

Next article of mention is the note from Gloam Ruins, written by Farzen Boreas.

Here he writes, “Uncle and his curse have fallen” presumably mentioning Kessler Boreas.
Continuing (sorry for bad quality):

Here he writes, “I only hope my brother was able to escape with his wife and children… their oldest just turned 3…”

Then, we have some dms with tech to mention.

Here the “their oldest just turned 3” is confirmed to be referring to Neviro’s father and the Uncle is confirmed to be Kessler.

Here we learn that Kessler is actually Neviro’s great grandfather.

When I inquired tech, he provided me with this:

Now we have the family tree, and we have learned of some ways that the family refers to each other. Presumably Farzen and Neviro’s Grandfather are so close that they refer to each other as “brother”, thus explaining the line in the Gloam note.
We also know that Neviro refers to the Curse-bearing Kessler Boreas as “grandfather” thus explaining some lines in the journal, but not all.

Mainly, the line “Kessler’s eldest son, my father” still eludes me. I can think of three possible explanations. The third is so bad I will not even share it.

The first theory that I present is that there are actually two Kesslers. We have Kessler Boreas I, the Curse-user, and we also have Kessler Boreas II, Kessler’s son, Farzen’s “brother” but actually cousin, and Neviro’s actual grandfather. Thus, Neviro’s father could be Kessler II’s eldest son, thus making the specificity of this line make much more sense.

The second theory, and my favorite theory, would be that Neviro actually refers to his grandfather as “my father”. Thus, he is actually referring to his grandfather being the eldest son of Kessler. This actually has a bit more going for it. Since they are all great mages, as said by tech, they would all have long lifespans and age slowly, thus it may be strange for Neviro to call his grandfather by that title, and thus refers to him as father as well. This would also make more sense with the full note in the journal.
Quote, “Nero decided it was too dangerous to let any member of the royal family survive, so he tried to wipe us out. Kessler’s eldest son, my father, was able to escape with his wife, my mother.”
This lines up much better with the line in the Gloam Ruins note.
Quote, “I only hope my brother was able to escape with his wife and children…”
These two lines match up very well. Neviro says that his father and mother were able to escape from Nero, this would make it seem like they were already married by the time Nero went on his rampage. This would not make sense if he were referring to his biological father, who was 3 at the time.

Please share any thoughts you have.
