Frankly, in my opinion reworking the dark sea to this
was not a good move.
I prefer the old dark sea experience involving sailing better, but to each their own I guess… though I do admit that this new version feels more adventurous

me nd my brother went to 2nd range and it was pretty fun, pretty difficult as well there was like 6-8 Atlanteans with 2-3k hp on one island sometimes. I can also confirm that loot from farther ranges are superior too low range chests. I’d get at least one powerful scroll and a couple armored every time I’ve gotten loot primarily from farther ranges.
