(Ignore huge watermark I’ll edit it out)
did this actually end in death
Nah we just ran like hell
theres are some bugs; a chest i was holding turned invisible because i was trying to change my load out while holding a chest then i couldn’t drop the chest so we had to go back early from our expedition, and twice my crew mates got clipped under either a boat or the volcano island and i couldn’t revive them or help them get out. Overall update is good just needs some touches here and there. last thing is there supposed to be loot at the volcano island?
vetex needs to make something that allow us to grab multiple chest at once so its atleast worth climbing up these ridiculous mountains. maybe when we hold q a crew mate spawns and takes it to the boat? this only would work when u first find the chest outside of that u have to carry it urself.
There was one chest on the whole thing, it took my team 40 mins to climb and even then I didn’t make it.
yeah those should guarantee like 5-6 chest and you should be able to get them all to the boat at once cuz climbing these things are hell. even though its pretty cool and vetex just has to make it worth climbing
atleast spawn rates are getting buffed but PLEASE do something about the dark sealeds being a mountain away from a ship
Oh wait, just like how underwater sealeds go to the top. dark sealeds can fall down if you drop them!
holy shit. i’m almost scared to read it
anyway, i haven’t seen much actual dark sea content, so i won’t vote for anything rn, but my friend and i went out on a ketch the moment we joined because we thought it’d be funny to immediately die
I don’t think we encountered rain poisoning once, as I feel like we would’ve noticed. That being said, seeing waves of water on fire was very interesting, and seeing the lightning turn from blue to red and the towering cyclones of magical energy was pretty awesome.
However. I never saw ANY islands throughout the entirety of our journey. We got picked up by someone on a brig, and I was dumb enough to dash on a moving object running on Roblox physics, so I ended up drowning.
My friend and the guy with the brig ran into an island or two, and said that the Atlanteans he fought were super easy. I don’t know how that’s the case when there’s an image of a level 600 Atlantean in this very thread, but whatever.
The guy with the brig ended up dying, and his boat may or may not have just disappeared, but my friend wasn’t able to keep the loot he got.
Despite the fact that we went into the Dark Sea unprepared on purpose, I don’t think he was too happy about it. We haven’t played the game since April, and I never explored the new islands, so when we did and didn’t find much, he said something along the lines of “So happy he added three expanses of nothing.” That doesn’t seem like a very good first impression, but maybe he’ll like it more once we’re more prepared.
That being said, it feels to me like having potions as well as a brig is a necessity if you want to get anywhere with the Dark Sea.
I have no idea how to brew a clearsight or whatever potion I’d need, and I’m hesitant to look it up, so my main source of info are the descriptions of the reagents (or catalysts, idk). And even then, there’s an entire brewing skill system seemingly identical to the cooking skill system, so I don’t even know if it’d work.
As for the Brig…
I have never had more than 5000 galleons on any of my saves throughout my entire time playing Arcane Odyssey. Ever. I don’t know how I’m supposed to get 20,000 of them as a hero, as they have to spend money on the cargo AND make sure they don’t stumble into something that can kill them on the way to Frostmill or Ravenna, and it’d take forever.
Fishing just isn’t fun, bounty hunting only gives 50 galleons, and pirate hunting could potentially take forever, as pirate ships just aren’t around when you want them. (Also, a fortified sailboat will give the same number of sealed chests as a fortified ketch, and probably a brig, too. That’s a pretty similar reward for such a difference in health and firepower.)
I don’t know how a casual is supposed to get a brig, ESPECIALLY in the future where people won’t be spending nearly as much time at level 125. By the time they have the money for it, there are probably much more boats with much higher prices for them to worry about.
edit: i also expect every rare item in the dark sea to sell for more than like 15 galleons. i know they’re all gonna be worth, like, seven, but i don’t care. most of the things i encounter i likely won’t use. it’s the dark sea, you probably nearly died for it, i am SICK of selling things for this cheap
I only have a major problem with Atlantean Ships, those mfs are pretty much instant death due to how little space you get to fight on + some Brig rigging blocking your attacks. They’re usually not worth fighting for Dark Sealed, though can be great for ship healing assuming the Crew doesn’t immediately aggro on you
Island Atlanteans are okay though, even if the gun/bow variant can be really BS to fight against
too early to say, but I think the new gems, debuffs on certain armours, and all the new tools will definitely add a lot more diversity. my only issue is there’s no reason to use old enchantments over new ones (i.e: brisk is just better swift)
Agility, power, defense and attack speed are usually really important, so it’d be super hard to minmax while getting a lot of each stat.
Gems are so annoying to max out, that most people I know don’t bother to max it out and just farm the items and get someone to craft for them. Make perfect jewelcrafting easier to get and it’ll definitely be a more interesting mechanic.
Maneuvering around the rough seas is pretty fun. Max stability and bracing make it not very punishing to get hit by them, but I think they’re fine IMO.
I thought this was a cool mechanic at first, but it’s just so annoying. Having to stop my ship just to wash off rain poisoning ruins the flow of gameplay. Also if it happens during a fight, I have permanent like 30 DOT every SECOND, you’re basically guarenteed to lose, especially if you’re on an island and far away from your ship.
Atlanteans are cool, they’re pretty tough to fight but that’s justifiable for their bountiful rewards and the sealed chests they tend to guard. You could probably tone them down a bit, but i wouldn’t worry too much.
I’ve heard them once (barely heard it over the rain and waves) but never saw them, so I don’t have a clue
it is mandatory, cuz it’s the only ship with a wash basin lol. Plus it’s the only ship that can get 100% stability to my knowledge, at least without HEAVY investment and sacrificing other stats. It’s probably a huge pain to get it tho, 20k is a LOT and the ways to farm money right now are incredibly tedious and boring. it being mandatory isn’t a problem (the point of the brig is to be used in the dark sea), but the price is a huge wall for new players.
I haven’t ventured past the first layer, but yeah they’re huge. it takes like 10 minutes to get between layers, so if I need to do something IRL I’ve gotta wait a good 10 minutes (and a couple more to unload my ship) before I can log.
They’re so rare, but that’s being fixed with the upcoming patch. the only issue i’ve discovered is an island with a dark sealed chest in a cave, but the cave was inside of a huge square area that was impossible to leave while holding the dark sealed chest as the areas were too high to high jump unless you have a ton of agility investment.
Very rewarding. New weapons, atlantean gear, high quality reagents, etc are worth it.
Rain makes it pretty hard to see, but far from impossible. I can still see through it, but sometimes I think I see an island, but it’s just my eyes tricking me. By fog, do you mean the foggy parts of the dark sea or the darkness that stops you seeing past a somewhat large circle. I think they’re both fine anyways, the foggy areas are supposed to be obstructing, same with the sight radius.
I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this, but the dark sea background music thing that plays when you’re sailing give me headaches. Also PLEASE tone down the giant white eyes spawnrates, there’s more giant white eyes than islands it’s absurd
thats a great solution !! just let them drop fr
Let us carry incapacitated teammates - trying to revive people in the water is terrible
wouldnt really care if it wasnt for cargo being there, but its still unnecessarily high
theres no reason for the mechanic to exist, but if the bassin worked for all party members itd be tolerable. its still nothing but an annoyance with no good or interesting part
i like overleveled enemies with a goofy run. they sound impossible to beat without projectiles tho minus cheesing
its nice, just pretty buggy for party members and it gets stuck on literally anything you hit with the front of the ship. of course its mendatory past the first layer but i dont see the issue with that besides the price of the ship
considering realistically you shouldnt go past the insanity 1 layer for now, the length is… tolerable i guess. the first layer could easily be halved tho
to me they seem alright, but im also not one to find an issue with spending 2 hours on a single dark sea expedition tbh. they sure feel empty but theres only so much to do with autogenerated islands when either way the only thing people want is random reagents on the ground and chests scattered around
if you dont get robbed of all your time and effort instantly WINK WINK its fine. theres unique loot there anyway, so its not like theres anything to compare it to
you cant see shit but i feel like thats kind of the point. as long as its easy to accidentally find islands and boats and stuff without having to see them from afar, its fine
rain seems to be a major performance issue tho
Yes, because there’s more armors to choose and more factors
Min-maxing was always mandatory
Unsure, but I find it weird that the new jewels are objectively better than the older ones
They’re fine
idk
Fair challenges but they should drop stuff more often
where are you, sirens?
Yes
Slightly too much (1 hour for 15 chests…)
They’re too rare in my opinion
Probably
Not much
Probably somewhat a lot
I sorta agree. The health gone from drawback should be halved per point. I’m running 1 drawback btw.
also it makes you look uglier from the red
and it’s SERVERSIDED
wait, can you die from drawback alone?
Health regen outside of combat seems to make it almost impossible, I couldn’t get myself below 200 at 3 Drawback. I’d imagine it might during combat, though. Or maybe if you give yourself like 10+ via Painite.
i heard someone say that you cant die from drawback alone as it depletes from current health
if that’s the case i’d be pissed because i do NOT want to take damage or go insane to keep up with people who have 200-300+ power
