for me, i’m fine with insanity 1 and drawback 1
yeah but i don’t want to make the game less enjoyable by having the annoying insanity effects to get eviscerated by Gerald, God of Destruction and Primordial Metal Mage a little slower
It’s annoying but I think it’s a fair enough mechanic. I think the chance of it being inflicted should be lowered a bit though.
Quite scary, I think they are perfect for what they are.
I haven’t had trouble finding them. Once you hear the singing they’re super easy to find. I wish sirens were a bit harder to fight, although I have only been up to Range 3.
Only for range 2 and above yes. You can 100% manage in range 1 with a ketch.
It feels that way. I think the length should be lowered just a bit. I don’t hate the length though, It just sucks to go 30 minutes in and die. But thats part of the experience
They do now
I wish there were more rewards, but they are sufficient for now.
Yes quite a bit. Its probably one of my biggest annoyances with the dark sea.
Yes, I have trouble spotting islands a lot of the time.
Not really, for example vatrachos set, I think drawback effect ruins it, cuz it is too powerful for our lvl and not really effective to use, would be better in future when we get more ways to compensate self damage.
Not sure.
Very questionable, we need more time exploring Dark Sea and crafting to find out.
Too much frequent and RNG based, sometimes it does not touch you at all, but destroys your teammates every 30 seconds. + It is weird, but with warding I get it way more rarer, which is not logical.
Their appereance is pretty basic, but they are cool to fight, their strenght varies on circumstances and class, on islands they are pushovers, you will walk through pain if you get berserk one during aboarding their ship. (My rating is based on insanity 1 area)
Fightable, but its hard to hit them with warrior’s projectiles like spear, bc they are teleporting too much sometimes.
Absolutely yes, cuz islands spawn so rarely, that while searching for them your ketch or caravel will reach the stage of unability to get back to the Bronze Sea.
Yeah, my expeditions take around 2 hours even to the fact that I have 92 speed. Insanity 1 layer should be 2x closer to Bronze sea, not sure about other layers.
Whole Dark Sea is fully based on RNG, sometimes you meet damn ton of islands and sometimes 2-3 during all 2 hours journey.
It is pretty hard to climb some of the islands, unless you are mage with high jump.
Lol, ship parts from Dark Sea are required for Dark Sea, so its hard to judge those. Armor sets… well idk about armor sets, as I said, drawback is useless at our lvl. Scrolls are very useful, but too rare. Warding is cool, but I can just get Virtuos scroll and use it on mine armor, so warding robes are useless unless you go in 2-3 insanity range. I think that there is should be “Deep Dark Sea Chests”, so people don’t farm only 1 insanity range.
Depends on graphics, I play on max and yeah it is obstruct my view, I think… around 25-30%.
A lot, it is like 40% of my view, with rain it is like 70% in total.
Edit: Atlantean weapons should have their skill’s requirements nerfed, its not cool that using them does not allow you to use new set of skills.
Still not gotten an atlantean drop from an actual atlantean
what? I have no dark sea ship parts on my boat, yet it’s taking no damage from waves and has only 2 less speed than my ketch
i dont think others will have the same opinion as me but i hate them mostly because how bad i am at aiming and also my horrible ping
other than that they are okay-ish tbh
holy shit it is borderline impossible to beat ice/lightning atlanteans. the constant rain means if you get hit by one blast you’re losing the rest of your health bar as 5 more blasts and a followup attack hit you in succession.
My only complaint of the dark sea that is not mentioned in this article is that: While fighting atlantean ships, wave spawns do not seem to decrease and its already hard enough only dealing with waves. So my suggestion is to decrease wave spawn rates by 75% while you are in ship combat in the dark sea.
(not sure if this can also be applied to player ship’s pvp but since the dark sea is pve focused i think its fine if its npc ships only in the dark sea)
This will allow for the player to focus more on the ship than both the ship and the waves, as well as encourage more players to kill the ships since its quite the resource management
Cuz those ship parts useless in Bronze Sea, cuz there is no challenging foes, so you need those parts only to fight Atlantean ships.
atlantean ships arent worth it anyways, they take ages to sink, and their crews are absurdly hard to fight because the darkness makes it hard to see them, and fighting on a ship is always hellish. Just for 2-3 sealed chests, which you can get from like 1 island by beating 1 probably weaker atlantean
This just got worse, there was 4 Dark Sealed Chests on top of a taïga biome island, with cliff up to it roughly 2.5 times the height of Others (friendly reminder the only mobility skills that still work without an enemy are TPs and Sunken Q)
Definitely. It gave a virtually infinite amount of new islands to explore along with a few new enemy types, and new powerful gear that can be obtained through battling enemies or doing other pve tasks such as fishing, treasure charts and exploring.
Yeah, I find that it makes it really hard to locate lost cargo due to the rough waves and it especially makes it hard to climb up ships or climb out of water. I can see classes without vertical mobility having a bit of a hard time if they’re stuck in water with little stamina.
Meh, it exists I guess. At times it can be too powerful and lead to heavy damage taken, especially during combat or when on an island away from your brig. It would be nice if there was a secondary counter to it, such as a preventative measure or a portable consumable that could alleviate the status effect.
I’ve only ventured into and fought them in the first insanity range, and so far they’ve been a decent challenge. My only problems with them is (like most NPCs) their ability to infinitely chase down your boat through swimming as well as how you’re very likely to run into more than one ship at a time meaning you won’t be able to properly loot a ship because other ones will be attacking you/your brig.
Haven’t run into any yet. Have heard their song couple times, but they never showed up in my path
Yes; the stability, HP, cargo/sealed chest space on the deck, ram & mortar slot, portable fish and potion stations, and the water basin are all extremely useful - and some being downright necessary - to successfully engage in the dark sea’s content unless your only goal is to fish items.
Slightly. Expeditions are typically at least half an hour but usually they can last for much longer than that, but some items seem to have a relatively low drop rate (particularly the new enchants) compared to the time invested. However the updater has only been out for a day and a half, so I guess it wouldn’t make sense for everything to be obtained within that small of a timeframe. Still though, personally I’d appreciate if dark sealed chests were slightly easier to come by since expeditions can be a huge money and time sink.
In v1.14.3 servers I find them frequently enough
I’d say they are. We can essentially become twice as powerful in terms of stats than we were last update. As well as other rewards such as new weapons, new fishing gear, and new ship gear.
My graphics is always either set to 1 or 3 so my view is obstructed either way, but other than that I’ve crafted a ton of Clearsight brews to make things a bit easier
Yup, people seem to have much more freedom and encouragement to invest into a playstyle that doesn’t revolve too heavily around the two primary stats since it’s now more worth it to run high alternative stats.
Yeah, jewels feel way better now that they’re on par with enchants. Getting to max jewelcrafting was a slog, so doing all that just to get +6 was kind of disappointing last update.
I feel like being able to steal other player’s sealed chests right as they exist the dark sea should be removed. Stealing chests is fairly easy to do considering whoever you are stealing them from will be low on resources. This is inherently one sided and leads to toxic gameplay.
Um achually, crushing judgement isnt a tp nor a sunken sword
I mentioned sunken sword, and crushing judgement is something I forgot
This seems like a big over reaction, if you’re so scared of people stealing your chests. Just enter the dark sea anywhere other than ravenna. Even then, ive heard 0 stories of people being kilked fot their sealed chests
I entered a server where 3/5 of the good rep shipwrights were being camped, even Thorin’s refuge
