What does the death curse actually do? At first I thought it was just instantly killing somebody or something but if that was the case Morden would’ve instantly killed Julian and wouldn’t have been hurt at all, so how does it work? I heard some people say it’s just amplified shadow magic but aren’t curses supposed to be much stronger and different than base magics? So does anybody have any idea what the death curse is actually supposed to do?
Death magic in a really pure form I would assume, just like other elemental curses

Ig it’s just black smog with a teal glow that makes you hurt a lot if you touch it.

it’d probably inflict a status like wither or smth and do a lot of damage

I have a theory that death magic/the death curse is just pure chaos in the form of magic, and it’s only called death because it probably causes people to wither away and die.
All magic based curses are elemental
alright time to predict a big twist.
the death curse is not actually the death curse or is in some way tainted and/or empowered by Chaos’ influence and that’s why the order wanted it so badly.
The issue is how exactly would the death curse be any at all effective in clashing?
For example, Julian vs Morden. He can’t exactly cause the glass Julian summons to die now can he?
death would probably be effective against things that can “decay”, such as ice melting, metal rusting, or a fire dying down
since glass doesn’t really deteriorate you’re probably right that it isn’t as effective against it
I think it’s more that Calvus wanted it, most likely because his grandfather had it (and that means he used the death curse to obliterate winterveil)
I’ve always been of the mind that something like Death would bypass the defences of the body and attack someone’s soul directly… Draining away their inner lifeforce until they become a soulless husk.
We have no clue how the soul really functions in the Arcane universe however so this is purely headcanon 
I think… it’s just Shadow with hyperbolized wither effects.
