we epic gaming
anyways, I fully agree with your final verdict honestly, you’ve summed up everything I was thinking about.
the dumbest part is how I’m pretty sure the reason why bandit leaders have so much hp is that you’re meant to assassinate them by crouching up behind them then clicking, which one shots the red ones btw. still hyper annoying how in order to stand a chance, you have to sneak up behind npcs that probably aggro onto you the first time you arrive at erisia, then do something that’s COMPLETELY unexplained, and faulty as well.
deepwoken just seems specialized for those who have good gamer skills or whatever
we need an ao ost tho hmmm
oh yeah, very good thing to know: In deepwoken, there’s this thing called card weight where basically positively weighted cards appear more often (such as I think ascended talents when you unlock them?) and negatively weighted cards appear less often. When you don’t pick cards, the cards gain more negative weight, and rare cards gain a lot more negative weight as well. useful to know for when you get a rare card you want, but also a common card in the same hand
im good at wom (games in general too ig) yet ASSS at deepwoken but i guess its just to do with time taken
Oh no that’s not a requirement, it’s just an option.
The Bandit Leaders are just the stronger enemy, like a Goblin after you finally master fighting Slimes in an RPG
yeah, except the goblin spawns with the slimes in every single encounter that has slimes
True
Honest to god pro tip:
Don’t be afraid to run
no like seriously, you don’t need to be a parry god. I have multiple hundreds of hours spent on the game and still run away from a lot of shit (I remember getting less than 10% by an ice songseeker… when I was max hp. On a power 20/60 build.)
Running is, unlike other games, an actual skill. After getting used to it, you can literally outrun EVERYTHING in the game (bar layer 2) with no agility. You mentioned that the angels were too fast; If you run normally, they are. You’ll find them to be relatively slow once you get the basics.
How you get away from them is:
- Jump Sliding. Running at max momentum, jumping then crouching immediately after can give you an decent speed boost compared to normal running, if you repeat it at regular intervals. You’ll get this easily the first time.
- If you see a slope, RUN TO IT, Sliding in a diagonal in this game is fast. Very fast. You have no vertical movement penalty, and the depths has a ton of slopes in the city.
- If you see ledges, try to climb on them. Bonus points if it’s a hanging ledge, since it screws over humanoid NPCs. You can climb on most things; if you see a slight protrusion, even if it doesn’t look feasible, just spam spacebar to magically climb it.
- Turn corners a lot. Self explainatory.
Overall, if you get good at running, you will seldom die. Ever.
This will only apply in some situations; some things will kill you if you try to run, namely large mobs like owls and sharkos. Everything else should be fine.
ok irrelevant but theres a funny quest. (To get the anime ring)
The royal pathfinder guy quest spawns a bunch of shatttered katana users at places with high amounts of freshies (the npc starts attacking the random freshies) which you have to kill all of them to get the ring
they really took the azure flames royal pathfinder shattered katana players and made them into a quest
I hate owls
god i love knowing that i want to get to like erisia or some shit but the winter snow fall is blocking my vision forcing me to go around in circles for 10 minutes
i mean, it kinda is? permadeath is a ULTRA magnet for toxic people of all kinds
that is something that i wanna do and see the idea behind, but i kinda just don’t think roguelike fits with pvp? just my thing tho. but i would definetly play deepwoken if i could play alone, or only with friends. because then it’d be a banger roguelike
the best solution would be if permadeath didn’t make you lose lives
I feel like in the states sea there’s a lot more events out on sea which is dope
Honestly i don’t really see what your talking about, even people who “gank” you aren’t toxic, infact most of the time after people gank you they say “gg” and even if it wasn’t a fair fight its way more common than people who will say “ez” after a fight. Hell i mean games like AUT and almost any other Anime game has a way worse community, and yeah while there are some BIG assholes in the community, so are there in basically other Roblox community. permadeath isn’t a magnet for toxic people, infact it is quite the opposite as it causes even the more “toxic” people to feel some sort of sympathy for attacking other people but hey go off ig
Honestly my favorite part about deepwoken, only thing that may have actually made me come back to it like 4 months ago lol
Also very good, the game, even though really unforgiving to new players, still doesn’t completely fuck you over and that has my respect
I think everyone can agree that deepwoken ez solos every game soundtrack on roblox by far.
I can definitely see why people don’t like permadeath, at first i didn’t but honestly, it just makes it more like a roguelike. People will constantly say “permadeath is bad because you can loose everything in just a few minutes and chance!!!” and too that i say, you haven’t played a REAL roguelike, a REAL roguelike can and WILL make you loose everything to stupid luck, the only way to conquer this is too override those unlucky events by gaining skill and turning it around. You can’t say deepwoken permadeath sucks because it serves its purpose, that is an insult to basically the entire rogue-like/ lite community.
Completely agree in this, i mean there aren’t really “cinnamon-rolls” in the community but as i said in my reply above, most deepwoken players do follow unspoken rules due to the fact that basically everyone has to face the hardship of loosing lives/ wiping. There are most definitely bad people there trust me, but there are also way worse fanbases on roblox that get more flack
Also completely agree on this, it’s shit easy to understand deepwoken combat, everything quite literally boils down to blocking, parrying, and dodging, however if you want to play at an advanced level, you have to learn techs, master ALL the skills listed above or at least be a god at one of them (one thing i like about combat is that it is like elden ring, you aren’t forced to use all of them and you could really spec into parrying attacks only, dodging all the attacks, or blocking and mixing up opponents), using mix-ups, feinting, and you get the gist of it. The one saving grace being the vigils instructor and while being a tiny feature, it is an actually GODSEND to newer players due to being able to practice combat against humanoids with basically no risk
This. Exactly why i dropped deepwoken. BY FAR the WORST part about deepwoken is travel, it simply is not fun at all. Waiting 2 minutes to travel from X to Y is NOT fun at all, and the lack of sea events really just contributes to this.
This is a controversial one but i completely agree, some people will say Deepwoken is GOOD for not telling you everything and let you learn, and while i guess i can see where people are coming from, it’s just not fun to have everything kick your ass and have no clue what you are doing as like 90% of your gameplay, honestly ANY game that makes you search up the answer online for something (besides terraria that gets a pass) really looses points in my eyes, the game doesn’t have to spoon-feed you the answer, it just has to nudge you in the right direction.
This is also a really good point. Now me personally i had a really odd experience with bandits, they were actually quite easy for me on my first encounter and i killed a bandit camp left with only half hp (keep in mind i had no clue how to parry), yet when i gripped them i swear i thought they were a player, let one live, and then they came back to kill me. From that point on basically everything kicked my ass, personally, bandits were never a threat to me, but you know what is. Monsters, now I’m not talking about mudskippers but sharkos. Now, the game gives you an instructor to learn all the patterns of humanoid NPCs, parry trading, etc. but when you fight anything non-humanoid, well… good luck, you can’t “train” off a sharko until you get the lone warrior origin (trial of one). And that is a singular mob, to learn the pattern and adapt in deepwoken you have to fight something multiple times and learn. You cannot do this with monsters easily. It leaves it all up to instinct and reflex which i do not like at all, it doesn’t help that there isn’t even anything like a “weak” variant of most of these mobs, making them that much more of a hassle to learn as most of the time your completely fucked until you get everything down
being a bit more generous on the game since I’ve seen basically everything to happen to it, i give deepwoken pre-verse 2 a 7.4/10 and Deepwoken verse 2 a 8.7/10. Many things have been polished and deepwoken isn’t even CLOSE to a “bad game” (at least for Roblox standards) like many forumers claim it is
Amazing review and I agree with everything in what you didn’t like.
Time to watch the forum go back to violently hating Deepwoken in 2 weeks tho
i’m pretty sure those people that say gg want to make it seem as they had a fair fight with you and won. from what i know people that gank and just say gg are still assholes.
