The Flare | Chapter 2 - Vengeance |

Five days ever since the attack within the Alchemist Headquarters, Percy, known as a hero of Summerhold, He was all over the Magius News as numerous accounts and sightings have been reported of him, defeating bandits all throughout Summerhold…

Percy, wearing his red-armored magic-resistant suit and jumped down from a building after seeing a group of four bandits attacking a lady.

“It’s the Flare, get him!”
The leader yelled, as three of them drawn their bows back and shot at Percy.

Percy dodged the arrows by using his flare magic to leap high into the air.

“Flare Blast!”
Percy shot a blast at one of the bandits, knocking one out.

Once Percy had landed back down the next Bandit then charged at him with an old, rusty sword.

“Arrrugh!”
The Bandit swung his sword at Percy, narrowly missing as Percy sent another flare blast at the Bandit, knocking out another one.

“He’s not a God, kill him!”
The leader yelled at the other bandit.

The bandit began shaking in fear, scared that he’d end up like his friends and be sent off to a Magic Council Camp for jail-time and ran away.

“…”
The leader’s stone-frozen face grew with rage, quickly shooting Percy down with a quick bowshot.

“Ah!”
Percy fell down to the floor, gripping onto the arrow that pierced his shoulder.

The leader walked over towards Percy about to kill him until the lady threw a brick at the Leader’s head, knocking him out.

“Oh, that’s definitely going to scar.”
Percy removed the arrow, leaving the area before Magic Council Guards arrived.

Percy made it back home, leaping back into his room through his window after a night of saving lives and stopping bandits from causing crime within the city’s walls, removing the suit he had been given to him by Nickolas after it became an iconic suit worn by him as Flare.

“Ough…”
Percy held his head into his palm in aching pain, sleep deprived after a night of protecting Magius.

“Percy, breakfast is ready, eat up and get ready for school!”
His mother, Ruby yelled upstairs.

“School? For real?”
Percy groaned after the thought of going back to school, until he thought of Amy being in his Alchemy class.

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be down there soon mom!”
Percy replied, taking off his suit and wearing his white-shirt, school attire.

-45 Minutes Later | Holden High-School-

Percy walked through the hallways, noticing posters of the Flare all over the walls, easily outweighing the talent show accouncements.

“It’s only been five days…”
Percy thought to himself, smiling as he went into Alchemy class.

Immediately, Percy would be pushed into a wall by a tall man with a dark stubble of facial hair.

“You were there! Five days ago, when you were attacked by that Dark Wizard! Why did you help that smiley potion-making slime, Derius? He’s pure evil!”
The bigger boy yelled at Percy.

“Thomas, i’ll see you after your potions class is over!”
A female teacher sternly yelled at him across the hallway.

Thomas let go of Percy, giving him a furious side-eye before heading off into the Potion Class

“Are you alright, Percy?”
Amy quickly went to comfort Percy.

“Uhm, I’m fine…what’s his problem?”
Percy held onto his bruised shoulder.

“Forget about him, let’s head to class.”
Amy smiled as the both of them walked into class.

Percy sat at the back of the room in his seating arrangement, as he watched Amy sit next to her boyfriend, Andrew Grey. Percy looked over at them, feeling a sense of lost hope.

“Welcome back Percy and Thomas, i am glad to see you both made a great recovery ever since you two have been hit by the magic storm a week ago.”
The potions teacher smiled at both of them.

“!”
Percy’s eyes widened in shock, if he had been granted magic by the magic storm, he could only wonder what it did to Thomas and the fact he hated Derius for what happened…Percy had to inform him fast.

After a long day of creating several short-duration sleep-potions, Percy immediately took his bag and left school walking to the Alchemist Headquarters to warn Derius about a potential victim of the magic-storm. However, two bandits walked up to Percy, holding old daggers directed at his chest.

“The bag, hand it over!”
The Bandit yelled.

“I’m not the guy you want to be messing with, i don’t even have time for this!”
Percy spoke to them, stepping two steps back and about to blast them both until.

“Primal Swipe!”
A man dressed in a black hood and old-torn up cape dropped down from the wall of Summerhold, slashing into one of the bandits with weaponized-claws.

“Uagh, AUH!”
The Bandit yelled in pain having a three large slashes on his chest.

“Not you again!”
The other bandit growled, jabbing the knife at the cloaked man.

The dark-hooded man caught the Bandit’s arm, using his other hand, would hit upwards at the Bandit’s elbow, dislocating his arm, then landing two heavy punches into the bandit’s stomach and ended by throwing the bandit over his whole body, slamming him onto the floor.

The bleeding bandit and the broken-arm Bandit both ran away in pain, tears nearly dropping from their eyes.

“…Who are you?”
Percy questioned the mysterious hooded man.

“Call me, Dark Jaguar.”
The hooded man smiled; his teeth had been noticeably sharpened to look like fangs.

Dark Jaguar leaped upwards over the wall, waving at Percy before leaving.

“…He has such a better hero name than I do…”
Percy stared into the sky.

Percy made it into the Alchemist Headquarters to be greeted by Nickolas Barion working on new types of high-jump potions.

“Hey Nick.”
Percy walked up on the focused Alchemist.

“…It’s Nickolas, but i guess you can call me that now.”
Nickolas spoke softly, not facing him.

“Right, sorry…do you know where Mr Graves is?”
Percy clapped his hands together as he scanned the room.

Nickolas got up from his chair while walking towards a shelf of potions, replacing a new batch of broken potions from the last attack.

“He’s at some meeting with the Magic Council, he- we have to pay heavy fines for the damages of the magic storm we caused. What were you going to tell him?”
Nickolas replied, turning around to face Percy.

“Well, it’s this kid from my school, i think he was affected by the Magic-Storm and i don’t think he likes us for what we did, he said i should have just let Derius die from Lennox a few days ago.”
Percy answered.

“What are you suggesting? We go to his house, abduct him and place him into a Test Chamber? No, the fines alone are stressful enough, i can’t stand another gifted, potential hero becoming evil and attacking us again.”
Nickolas began walking to his private work room.

Percy then quickly walked infront of him, stopping him in his place.

“Hey, what’s the matter? I’m sure you, Derius and Violet have this all under control”
Percy yelled.

“I’m just scared, alright! I never intended for the Arcane-Meliorator to go out of control and cause a worldwide storm, hurting- killing so many people! I never intended to be a murderer! I just wanted to find a way to give people magic, so they aren’t stuck their whole lives as useless potion makers as myself!”
Nickolas yelled.

A silence fell upon the room, Violet entering the room though her own private office at the scene, Percy shocked at Nickolas’s low self-esteem for himself.

“Nickolas, you have no idea how much you help me and so many people, i hated being born without magic, i was bullied for years by so many kids who were naturally born with them, but now that i do have magic, i do not feel any different, you want to know why?”
Percy responded.

“Cuz you were there to teach me, bring me back to health, any ordinary person without the knowledge of healing of potion-making couldn’t have done that for me, without you, i would be a broken, evil man…you are so much more than you know.”
Percy concluded.

A slight gleam of tears fell down from Nickolas’s face, looking over at Violet and leaving the room.

“That was very beautiful words Percy, but he just needs his alone time for now to clear his mind, even i am a bit shocked about the events that transpired over the past few days.”
Violet walked up to Percy.

“Yeah, i hope so too.”
Percy responded back.

“I hear your conversation about a potential, vengeful kid at your school, I’ve created this potion that should temporality remove his magic if he causes you any trouble in the future, m’kay?”
Violet smile, handing Percy over a potion with a light-blue liquid inside.

“Heh, I’ll be sure to use it when i get scared of the tall guy.”
Percy laughed off.

Violet and Percy talked for a whole longer before Percy left to head back home with a potential way of stopping Thomas if he ever decides to get revenge for saving Derius from the Dark-Wizard.

Percy made it back home to find his mother and father with his red-armour suit on the wooden table.

“P-Percy? Why didn’t you tell us sooner?”
His mother, Ruby had a shocked expression.

Percy saw his own, Flare hero suit on the table, his face grew pale white, gulping down what he thought would be his last ball of salvia.

“You didn’t tell us you wanted to join the Annual Knight Party over at Holden High-School, i remember when you were about ten-year-old, wearing your adorable knight-costume to your school.”
Ruby giggled.

Percy immediately regained his composure and let out a loud sigh, knowing that his secret was still a mystery to his parents.

“Oh yeah, I’m going there today at…around 5pm was it? Oh yeah, I’m just going take this and go right now…BYE-”
Percy quickly pulled his armour off the table, going outside and slamming the door behind.

“Such a funny child, i want more.”
Ruby looked over at her husband Frank.

“ERM…No thank you.”
Frank’s eyes were about to pop out in fear.

The both laughed as they watched their son put on his suit through the window and head off back to his school to participate in the Annual Knight dress-up party.
Percy equipped his Flare suit and walked off to the Annual Knight Dress-Up Party, hoping that he would just be recognized as a cosplayer and not the actual Hero. Percy walked through the school gates, everyone wearing makeshift costumes made out of fabric and tin.

“Your costume looks great, Percy!”
Amy and her boyfriend, Andrew walked over to him.

“Even i have to admit, definitely better than whatever these people call a knight’s outfit.”
Andrew laughed.

“Haha, thanks…i’m surprised you two would be here, this kind of thing sounds ridiculous.”
Percy replied.

Percy spoke before catching his eye on Thomas, peaking behind the corner before eventually walking off.

“Yeah, I thought It’d be a great way to kill off time instead of being stuck home with Amy’s intimidating parents.”
Andrew spoke, while noticing Percy’s eye drift off at someone else.

“You good Percy?”
Amy stood infront of him.

Percy stood there in silence, the angry threats Thomas had given him made him uneasy and almost wanted to make him go straight back home, but he had to get information if he was actually affected by the Magic storm.

“…I- I’ll be back, I need to deal with something.”
Percy walked off to search for Thomas through crowds of people.

After many minutes of wandering past many students wearing their own homemade knight costumes, he believed that Thomas had left the school, until he saw a boarded-up area, restricting students from heading past.

“He has to be there…”
Percy thought to himself.

He looked around himself, seeing if any teachers were noticing and when it was clear, he ducked under the barricade and walked into the restricted hallway.

Percy walked down the hallway, the loud chattering of people slowly fading away as he went deeper into the hall, his footsteps growing louder and echoing throughout the vacant hall.

“Y’know…i am a real big fan of the Flare.”
Thomas stood at the end of the hallway, the darkness covering his face.

“Me too, I even decided to go as him.”
Percy replied.

Thomas slowly exited from the dark and slowly started walking towards Percy, blood had been smeared all over his face as he held the hand of a severed Teacher.

“I know your secret, Flare…I do not believe it’s a coincidence that not only you were there at the Alchemist Headquarters innocent and that you have a spitting replica of the suit The Flare wore.”
Thomas walked closer, dropping the dismembered arm of a teacher.

Percy slowly started walking backwards, terrified of how far Thomas has gone into insanity.

“The magic storm took the life of my younger brother, i tried to save him after he had been impaled by fallen debris, until the magical blast crashed through the ceiling and knocked me out, leaving him to bleed out and die.”
Thomas’ eyes glared at Percy.

“You want to know what kind of material pierced my dear ol’ brother’s chest?”
Thomas lifted up his hand at Percy.

“Metal Blast!”
Thomas shot a ball of metal at Percy.

Before the blast would hit Percy, Andrew grabbed Percy’s arm and pulled him back behind a corner.

“You okay man?”
Andrew spoke as the two of them leaned behind the corner.

“No, it’s Thomas, he killed a teacher and is now trying to kill me!”
Percy replied in fear.

“Stay back, i got this.”
Andrew walked back into the hallway with his hand pointed at Thomas.

“Water Blast!”
Andrew shot water at Thomas, knocking him over.

Andrew than immediately began running towards Thomas; however, he would recover fast.

“Metal Beam!”
Thomas hurled a beam of metal at Andrew, blasting him backwards through a wall and into the Cultural Classroom.

Percy quickly went through the open hole in the wall and noticed that Andrew had been knocked out.

“Come out to play, Flare!”
Thomas began walking towards them.

Percy regained his bravery and walked back outside, ready to take down the Dark Wizard.

“Flare Blast!”
Percy shot a scorching flame at Thomas.

However, the blast would do almost nothing to his body, only burning off Thomas’s shirt.

“…”
Thomas’s eyebrows curled up along with his mouth into the most monstrous face Percy had ever seen in his life.

“Metal Barrage!”
Thomas began blasting multiple fragments of metal at Percy.

Percy managed to effortlessly dodge them all while slowly approaching Thomas while doing so, landing a punch once reaching him.

“AH!”
Percy’s wrist broke after hitting him.

“Come on, put up more of a- FIGHT!”
Thomas grabbed onto Percy and landed a heavy punch into Percy’s chest, knocking him across the entire hallway.

“Uah!”
Percy tried breathing; however, the cracked ribs added a sharp pain from every breathe he took.

Percy laid on the floor, the pain so unbearable he could not get back up and Thomas and slowly walking down the hallway towards him.

When Percy held onto his broken chest, he felt a tube inside one of his pockets and pulled out a small vile Violet had given to him, able to remove magic for a little while, just enough time to remove Thomas’s magic durability and land a finishing blow.

Thomas picked up Percy off the floor with one hand, hoisting him up in the air and conjured a sharp, metal dagger with his magic.

“If you had just let Derius die…you wouldn’t share the same demise as my brother, it’s just a shame the Great, Flare had to die so soon.”
Thomas was about to stab Percy until.

“Water Blast!”
Andrew shot water at Thomas’s head, barely affecting him.

“You’re next after he dies!”
Thomas turned his head to look at Andrew from behind.

Once Thomas turned back around, Percy smashed the vile into Thomas’s mouth, the liquid managing to be digested by him.

Thomas lost his balance and limped backwards, feeling his magic being drained from his body.

“W- what did you just-”
Thomas tried blasting Percy; however, his magic had been completely depleted and was felt vulnerable.

“I am sorry for your brother, but killing Derius or anyone won’t bring him back…”
Percy said, charging his fist up with flare magic and struck into Thomas’s face, knocking him out instantly.

Percy stood over the unconscious body of Thomas while looking down the hallway at Andrew who saw the whole thing.

“…I knew it!”
Andrew smiled at the sight of the Flare standing only a meter away from him.

Magic Council Guards quickly entered the hallway, Percy running away from the scene, drinking a healing potion to mend his broken body.

“What happened?”
A Magic Council Guard helped Andrew off the floor.

“The Flare saved me…”
Andrew replied as he stared down the hallway as the Magic Council placed Magic-cuffs on Thomas.

-Meanwhile | Magic Council Office-

“Just give me a few more days, i will have the fines paid for soon!”
Derius frankly tried to reason with the Magic Council Captain.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Graves…but you are unable to cover for the damages caused and are hereby sentenced to time over at the Silent Tower prison.”
Magic Council, James spoke while on a chair.

Derius stood up with a sad look on his face, looking down on the floor before looking back up with a straight grimace.

“I appreciate you doing such a good job on keeping Magius safe and just."
Derius began smiling as he reached into his pocket holding a knife.

“HEY-”
The Captain tried standing up but would be stabbed immediately in the stomach, falling to the floor trying to crawl out the room.

“But i must unlock Percy’s full potential, even if it means gutting down those with hearts made of gold.”
Derius walked over to the Captain and stabbed James once again, murdering him.

Derius stood over the corpse and poured a potion all over the body, completely vaporizing the corpse and he left the room, wiping blood off his face with a handkerchief.
