The Grand Fire Curses are basically pointless

And here’s why:

  1. They don’t ever serve their purpose

The main reason they were created was to defeat Cursebeard, except it never happens. Anyone who manages to find a curse never even goes out of their way to stop Cursebeard, they mostly just use it for themself (and also because they’d never have any actual way of knowing why their curses were even made in the first place.) Plus, Cursebeard eventually dies fighting Durza, making the whole point of the Grand Fire Curses worthless.

  1. They’re basically unusable

Every single case of someone gaining the Grand Fire Curse(s) is either them not using it or them using it and going batshit insane. It’s pretty ironic too since there’s no way for them to be able to even properly use the curse out of fear of going insane (or being able to fight well if they are insane).

  1. Cursebeard is dead

Cursebeard’s dead now, so there’s legitimately no point in the Grand Fire Curses even existing anymore. (And he didn’t die to a Grand Fire Curse either) Now, they’re just super weapons that some random guy could find and use for who-knows-what because plot. I don’t think I even have to explain this, honestly.

Ratio

L + bozo

Well they are as pointfull as all the magics in the game, none of them got any special propose in AO

And half of the community would stab vetex if they didnt get added (lmao)

Most curses are either lost or taken, and peacekeeper is going around to murder any bozos that decided that they don’t want to live in a world full of people anymore. For plot they are still powerful and pre-established McGuffins that could be used if Vetex or Tech ever chooses to

They can be used for more things than just killing Cursebeard.

Good point though.

forgot to talk about this, but curses don’t make you go insane, curses give you immortality and power, which can drive you insane. Most curse users that goes insane are usually already down bad fuckers, or it took them a very long time to go insane

I mean if I was tasked with standing in a volcano, with my only company being a magical ball of fire for my whole life I’d be a bit upset.

Rupin went nearly instantly insane after obtaining the Fire curse

counter argument: they look sick as fuck tho

well shit

“Nearly instantly” is probably an exaggeration, but I know it was soon after obtaining it

yeah, they basically go insane based off the element of the curse much like the magic a normal mage would be using. just a matter of influence, personality, and what not based on the element and individual

fire being destructive, protective, spreading, powerful, and free are strong feelings which is likely to tip you over.

where as smth like light, protective, guiding, blinding, calming, etc. isn’t likely going to tip you over as much if at all due to the nature of it

if you got the water curse you aren’t losing your shit nearly as fast

ye water curse can go both ways but it mostly wont make u insane as fast like fire

wait wasn’t there an entire debacle on the water curse being tidal curse and what not?

well I don’t think Prometheus made the fire curses to outright kill him, i mean if he built something simular like a giant robot, curse beard would have immediately destroyed it with him along with it, so I think he was trying to be sneaky and created the fire curse weak enough to fly under cursebeard’s radar but powerful enough to (in theory) destroy him.

haha green fire go brrrrr

Nah, he just wants to take the curses, not specifically murder them lmao (and I don’t think every curse user is sick of immortality)

I think it also depends on their mental fortitude, like how Cursebeard had 4 curses (blaze especially) but never went batshit insane
