The issues with the water breathing and balance

Me personally as an amateur game designer in RPG Maker, it would be literal common sense that if I was to add some new diving feature that required potions. I’d also nerf another set that does the same thing but better to push people to use Potions. Player happiness be damned lol that’s just how it is sometimes. When I make RPG Maker games I usually like to balance so that nothing outright makes other things I add in obsolete.

But if we by some chance want to keep the happiness of a select few players in mind… Then we just make it so that infinite water breathing works everywhere except in the Abyss, we can blame it on water pressure or something. Should be the perfect middle ground.

Repelling regular sharks, tiger sharks, and great white sharks

Sea weed and auric seaweed are both effectively infinite as long as you dont randomly use water breathing potions for no reason. The reason the jewels are being fixed is because otherwise t5 water breathing is just outclassed by a couple of jewels

This doesn’t even have anything to do with pvp so I don’t know why you’d even say that

people running from ganks with waterbreathing gems

removing the inf waterbreathing bug makes no sense, it’s great for QoL and isn’t gonna flip the game upside down (the 2 people who use it to run from hunters don’t count)

water breathing 5 is the easiest t5 potion to get in the game, its effectively infinite so anyone complaining about water breathing jewels is a moron. It’s more efficient to use t5 breathing combined with swim speed jewels (which is what people do instead)

personally anyone who goes into water to run should be killed on sight (i play fire mage)

right…as if those same people cant run away with a t4-5 water breathing potion anyways

ok…who cares? some people prefer having armor pieces that give them a passive buff rather than having to grind and consume potions.

everything in the game barring seasonals is “effectively infinite” so long as you grind. you’d be surprised at how quickly your water breathing potions will run out if you dive often and its just a pain having to brew and grind them again…and for what? because apparently the game is “too easy” with breathing jewels…said no one ever

u do not get 10 auric seaweed every time u dive somewhere so not really. t4 is more reasonable but its still not the most fun thing to obtain

i wouldnt care because its just a game

plus i pve so my build is basically irrelevant, is this change so catastrophically terrible that you cant deal with it?

this change to water breathing and the deep asf abyssal diving locations coming up at the same time is genuinely the worst possible timing for anything ever
its not gonna be fun going down to one of those things and back up over and over because they nerfed oxygen capacity of all things
i dont care if +100% being 2x makes sense, it makes for worse gameplay
speaking of bad gameplay i think the whole diving system needs to be remade in general but thats a whole other thing
