Back story- the crew of the Sea Serpent are trying to find the atlantean main base to destroy them once and for all
The salt-laced wind whipped Enizor’s cloak about his lean form as he stood at the railing, the moon a sliver of silver against the inky canvas of the sky. The waves crashed against the hull of the ‘Sea Serpent,’ their ship, a symphony of rhythmic thuds that echoed the steady beat of his heart. His fingers traced the worn leather of his grimoire, a sense of unease settling in his gut. Even with his potent magic, finding the Atlantean base was proving to be a daunting task.
‘You alright, Enizor?’ Edward’s gruff voice startled him. The deckhand, a burly man with a face weathered by years at sea, leaned against the railing, his gaze fixed on the horizon.
Enizor forced a smile. ‘Just pondering the mysteries of the deep, Edward,’ he said, trying to sound nonchalant. ‘You know, the Atlanteans, their magic…it’s a bit beyond our understanding, even mine.’
Edward snorted. ‘Atlanteans? More like a bunch of fancy fish-folk who got swallowed by the sea. Legends, they are. Just like the treasure they supposedly guard.’
Enizor frowned. ‘Don’t underestimate them, Edward. There’s a reason these legends persist.’ He glanced at the captain, a stern man named George Creek, who stood by the helm, his eyes narrowed in concentration as he navigated the treacherous waters. George Creek had a reputation for ruthlessness and a thirst for gold, but he respected Enizor’s magic, relying on it to guide them through the perilous seas.
‘George Creek says the Atlantean Base is somewhere near the Insanity 4 range,’ Edward grunted, his voice laced with a hint of fear. ‘Say, have you used your magic to try and sense it?’
Enizor hesitated. ‘The Insanity 4 range… it’s a place of unimaginable danger and power, Edward. It’s not something you just ‘sense’. It’s a force that can crush even the strongest magic.’ He closed his grimoire, his fingers trembling slightly. ‘But I’ve been trying. There’s a faint… a whisper, something that calls to me from the depths.’
‘A whisper?’ Edward scoffed. ‘Sounds like a good reason to turn back, mate. The sea is a cruel mistress, and the insanity 4 range is her most unforgiving lover.’
Enizor glanced at the moon, its light casting long shadows across the deck. He knew Edward was right, but the allure of the Atlantean base, its rumored treasures and ancient secrets, was too strong to ignore. He had to find it, even if it meant facing the perilous range itself.
‘We’ll see what the morning brings,’ he said, his voice firm. ‘But I have a feeling this journey is far from over.’
