Probably not, Cursebeard didn’t pick and choose the 4 curses he just searched for them and naturally found them. The chances of him specifically finding a curse of a magic he created are pretty low
So was there a point in the timeline where Arthur was just kind of waiting for his fellas to find another curse for him, and he hadn’t gotten any because he wanted them all at once? So then he just had to hope that nobody else took the curses?
I mean it’s just 4 out of the >30 unclaimed newly created curses that only he knows about. it’s absolutely reasonable to try to look for a couple at once
Why would he even know that he can get more than one by touching them all at the same time?
Did he get them all at once by doing the photosynthesis thing with four curses?
Because the entire reason he asked for them to be created was because he knew how they worked and that they could exist somehow?
Well I’d like to know where he learned that, considering that they didn’t exist until then.
- Experimental curses
- That’s probably a spoiler
It’s been a thing since AA, how can it still be a spoiler?
Experimental Curses were imbued directly into their user, and never had cube forms.
Oh shit I forgor
Originally a plot hole until vetex accounts for it in a way that’s a spoiler
Most game devs don’t even have their lore doc public in the first place can we please accept that no, the story of ao is not entirely separate from it and vetex’s going to keep some things hidden from us
Fair enough.
I mean if any experimental curse users had died before the elemental curses were made then someone could’ve absorbed them in cube form and Cursebeard could’ve learned from that, though I don’t think that’s what happened.
I’m thinking maybe he saw other people, possibly members of his crew absorb some of the elemental curses first, ones he probably didn’t want anyways, then figured it out from there. Either from seeing someone else create a supercurse first, or someone try to absorb a second curse some time after their first and then failing in which then Cursebeard would decide to take a gamble on a theory that absorbing them at the same time would work. I feel like that’d be in character for a character who’s super greedy, go big or go home. That’s kinda all headcanon, but I wouldn’t totally count it out.
It’s also possible the knowledge granted to Merlin by the Nirvana curse included the information on how to a supercurse and then he just told Cursebeard.
The rest’a what you said makes enough sense, but was it ever specified that an experimental curse can even be taken? They certainly wouldn’t be absorbed into a devourer, since they use Arcanium which absorbs magic.
My best guess is that experimental curses are given to their first user directly after being made, and if that user dies then the curse can take cube form
then, others can just get that cube form
I dunno, you’re right it wouldn’t work with a traditional devourer though, or at least shouldn’t. Though I wouldn’t count out the possibility of something being able to do the job. Maybe there’ll be a spirit weapon devourer in the future or something, seems reasonable for a god to want to make when other gods are throwing their experimental curses onto the playing field during the golden age of magic.
That’s a sick idea, but I think that Experimentals only playing a role in, what, two characters that still play a role? Not exactly enough representation to get anything more in-game, if I had to guess.
This thread is getting kind of derailed but I have one thing to add to this
There’s nothing stopping you from magically irradiating shit. You could blast a bunch of magic into some saltwater and theoretically be able to forge arcanium with it.
Presumably, you could do the same thing with spirit energy using a spirit weapon, and create oraclanium or smth
i never said he couldn’t? literally never implied this is any way, literally just said he a made a curse of his magic
all elemental curses have a magic variant, thus grandfire curses must have a magic variant which prometheus likely used
Well considering he is friends with Poseidon, he probably was told
Why would Poseidon know? He’s god of the sea, what does he have to do with knowing how nonexistent things work?
He is a god who can make curses, he would know how curses work
