~THE LOSER~
A story about a 9-5 office worker, who lives in Superpowered world. He always wanted to be a superhero himself. The problem?
He doesn’t have any powers.
~SEMI DETAILED SUMMARY OF FIRST FEW CHAPTERS~
Horace had always wanted to be a superhero, but he didn’t have any powers. You might be thinking, “Hey, he could always be that one technology guy in the van!”. Another problem is that he isn’t necessarily super smart. Or super strong.
Or really, impressive in any aspect at all. However, one thing that keeps him going, keeping him alive some may say, are his wits. His previous girlfriend stated that it seemed he could find a way to solve almost any logical problem that’s been put in front of him(why did they break up? she cheated on him).
So, when he found himself approaching a bank robber, he was really counting on his wits to survive.
…
Summary end. I know people will probably want me to make an official chapter, but is there anything I should add?
When you say a superpowered world, do you just mean a world with super powers like marvel or DC or do you mean a world where everybody has super powers?
if it’s the latter, how does he know he doesn’t have one, and why doesn’t he have one? If it’s the former, why does he want to be a super hero?
Horace doesn’t have a mental disability, but he is definitely crazy(by most standards).
Horace is inspired to be a superhero because he wants to help people. Why doesn’t he just joined the police officers?
Well, he doesn’t have the talent to actually be useful to the force. And he doesn’t want to be stuck with some lame job, like a mall cop or something. So he decided that he wants to be a hero.
However, he’s stuck with a 9-5 because he needs cash.
I think I could do a better job of Horace’s backstory. Maybe I’ll rewrite it.
plot twist: His actual power is plot armor, but since it doesn’t visibly manifest and so is more of an “invisible” power, everyone just thinks that he’s just basically powerless.
anyway while you’re like the only writer who’s stuff i read on the forums (and arguably the best) why is EVERY protagonist have to be depressed/unhappy 30-50 year old men?
Don’t know
I don’t really think that the character is depressed, though.
He’s… oblivious. He thinks that he can be a hero, and he simply just likes to save people. He’s really just some crazy dude.
Exactly!
He’s crazy! If YOU(no powers btw) went up to a guy with a gun and tried to jump him, you’ll die assuming your like Horace(with basically no phsyical capabilities other than his stamina)
maybe he thinks he doesn’t have any powers but a mental disorder
however his superpower is his mental disorder
he thinks he has schizophrenia and he can “see” things, as well as some weird creature that tries talking to him.
the “things” are actually insanely useful though, like important items, food, weapons, weak points, heat, even souls of people.
(actually I might use this power for myself where I make hecto a schizophrenic sleep deprived artist lol and typ is the outer-dimensional creature who has interest in him)
ugh but rn I am having the worst time trying to rework typ’s appearance, I don’t rlly like it atm and I’m trying to rework his head shape, so far, it hasn’t been going well
meanwhile hecto has had the same head for like a year lmao
