THE STALKER

The Idea

Deep in the depths of the dark sea something is awakened, a humanoid giant rises from the waves with black scales and sharp teeth. Stalking on its prey waiting for the opportunity to where its prey is the most vulnerable. After a millennia of being locked down in the dark sea, The Stalker moves toward populated areas to exact its revenge against the human race. The race of the Stalkers has plenty of theories, from demons to evolved fish.

The Details

THE STALKER
The Stalker is a sea monster that only spawns during the night, the Stalker has 4 special phases that it can use to make its prey more vulnerable or more weak to then slash away at their target to feast on them.

Stats
Health: 4,000 // 6,000 (Primordial Variant)

MECHANICS/BEHAVIOUR

Phase 1 - - Awakened
Once the Stalker spawns into the server it will start hovering above water looking around for it’s prey, it will attempt to camouflage itself under the water as it starts swimming around toward the nearest populated area.

Phase 2 - - Stalk
The Stalker finds a ship stares, if the ship is moving the Stalker slowly advances toward the ship in a stealthy manner. This is where it can be seen as the stalker does this the entire way of it going toward a players ship.

Phase 3 - - Hunting
If engaged or if the player gets too far the stalker will enter its hunting phase, giving out a screech that gives a player insanity level 2 and damages the ship. Once the stalker goes below half HP the stalkers speed increases drastically and tries to get in melee range to where its arms will then form into a sharp edge and will swipe at the ship of the player dealing 500 damage per hit.

Phase 4 - - Feasting
The ship is sunk, there are bodies in the water. The Stalker feasts, recovering from the carnage.

PRIMORDIALS

This is a variant of the Stalkers that are more matured and have are more stronger, their screech can roll out insanity 3 and deals more damage. The primordial versions are also larger with chains wrapped around their limbs to make them more different from the basic version. Primordial versions can also have a larger chance of dropping items.

DROPS

The Stalkers Scale
-Guaranteed Drop-
The tough scales of the stalker used by ancient chemists, making a potion that enhances the durability of the skin. This ingredient is now very rare to find due to the low populations of the Stalkers.

BUFF: (When added to potions)

  • Very significant defense buff when used.
  • Increases a potions effect time by 10 minutes.

Stalkers Claws
-25% Drop-

Ripped from the mouth of a stalker, these improvised claws are made out of its sharp teeth which when hit can give debuffs to anybody. Giving out a strike from the Claws gives out insanity. The blood of the enemy after a kill heals you with a regen effect to give you additional HP compared to the average health regen from killing enemies either.

Reason To Add

The addition of the stalker adds variety to sea monsters and to make a more humanoid looking sea monster different from the average “fish” sea monster. It’s also to apply even more danger to going near a sea monster as most sea monsters in the game either bugs out and stands still or just use hit and run tactics. Instead of using those tactics the monster uses fear tactics and rushes toward the player (once in phase 4) forcing the player to finish what they have started instead of being able to run away.

EDIT:

Reference For Sounds

I took clips of these sounds from Mazellmi but uh yea this is what I picture for the stalker to sound.

Insanity Screech (Stalkers Screech That Gives Out Insanity)

Stalkers Attack (Stalkers arm attack)

This seems like an engaging and new take on sea monsters, I admit the title and name made me think it would just be another stalking prey type thing that is just slightly more complex than the current ones, however it seems genuinely interesting and unique, good suggestion.

Cool concept that could be genuinely scary. But for some reason I keep on imagining a ghastly appearence.

Me scrolling through Vetcord suggestions, reading through this, before suddenly seeing some Eldritch horror: :sleeper:

Anyways, this suggestion seems really fun and interesting.

I would love to have this abomination in the dark seas.
Ah, being targeted by this thing while listening to Ghost Tape Number 10 would be quite an experience.

I love this one, hope we get similar suggestions for sea monsters

yeee-eelp!!!

Sounds like a pretty cool sea monster idea that would be a good addition to the game, especially the dark sea. The drops might be op, but they do seem like a fitting and good reward for killing such a beast.
