It was a normal day in the Summer of 2023. The weather was nice, and the seas were calm. Then, something strange began to happen.
A purple fog began to roll over the world. It started at points farthest from land, then it spread. Soon, the fog reached the shores of the worlds great landmasses, but it didn’t stop there. Soon, the entire world was consumed by the fog.
With the purple fog came a terrible storm. Red lightning struck every second, magical waves hundred of feet tall were being reported hourly, previously record breaking elemental tornados now becoming commonplace, large whirlpools strong enough to destroy entire fleets, and toxic rain hospitalizing hundreds of thousands. But yet, that still wasn’t the worst thing to come with the storm.
Fishlike beasts land on the shores in the billions, some only as tall as a person, while others were stories tall. These beasts, now known as the Atlanteans, had strange abilities. Some capable of conjuring the elements at will, others used weapons made of fish to ravage, many fought using fists and kicks alone, while a few used glowing blue weapons able to harm the soul itself. Yet all shared one similar trait, an urge to satiate their hunger by any means necessary. Many were eaten alive, while those who weren’t joined the horde.
Humanity, now facing a threat never seen before, is in shambles. How will they deal with such a threat? How will humanity persist? How will they deal with those who will inevitably transform into one of the beasts? Will they unite and overcome the threat? Will they tear each other apart? Or will this become the new normal?
